Does anyone know if there is a delay in shift response similar to what is being experienced in the standard A8 Stingray?
Honestly the little i drove the A8 was super impressed. noticed no real lag and positive shifts. i hated the c6 auto. it felt better then the 15 gtr i drove. it downshifted much faster. just so impressed about this new A8 trans. the gtr has this wimp mode where it auto shifts. really think the c7 smokes the gtr in every way. better torque at low rpm. better interior also. this c7 is just such an improvement over the ratty c6 interior. lol

All ok but the "closer ratio than the manual is wrong.
Gear spread manual is 2.29 to 1 1-4
Auto is 4.56 to-1 WIDER RATIO
Do you understand the basic concept of the A8 having a very definitive gearing advantage to ~103 mph and then basically being even with the M7 to ~126 mph?

Even though GM worded there claims accurately, the whole purpose of these claims was to give the impression that the transmission was as good or better than the PDK and that was evident in the understanding of most of the members here. Reality is it is not as good as the PDK in all aspects and this has negatively impacted GM, when in fact if they stayed quite about it people would most likely be raving of how good an automatic it is.
Yes, with all the negative Auto Mag reviews, not and the faster track times than the manual and people waiting in line for months for the chance to get one, its killing GM, oh wait.... Its outselling all real performance sports cars in the world by heck of a lot ... even getting kudos from Europe...
The idea is to sell vehicles....and the impressive performance of the A8 z06 does clearly outperform many other super cars with PDK on the race track...
Moist PDK vehicles are left in D on the track anyway....the technology today is that impressive whether it's torque convertor or wet dual clutch automatics..
If paddle feel of the A8 is that is disappointing then buying one of the slower PDK sports cars is always an option to consider...remember going fast doesn't mean playing with flappy paddles if the computer is more capable of controlling shifts in either PDK or 8L90 trim...
Nothing wrong with wanting a better feel of flappy paddling even if it means you are going slower... if that's what a person is after...I can certainly respect that..
For those that want the fastest corvette on the track...the new c 7 z06 delivers the goods.

Seen this before...maybe a company test ringer...who knows. Nevertheless, note how many RPM's it drops between shift.
Go out and test drive a Porsche PDK, or AMG MCT or even the 7G Tronic and/or the BMW DCT trans...I think you'll see what I mean. I believe my old 2010 AMG 7G trans shifted and behaved better than the A8 Z51 we tested.
The C7Z A8 delivery delays had me thinking, but I went ahead and ordered it anyway. I hope GM figured it out.
Thanks,
Carlos
Have to disagree. Ive had both. The shifting of the AMG has a big delay. Much less on the C7 A8. We will see if the same holds for the Z06 A8. But from the video, it looks pretty good. While I like the rev match feature of my m7 z06, I'll def trade out when my A8 arrives in a couple months.

Unless I have missed some threads I thought it was proven that the ZR1 was quicker on the track. Has that been disputed ?
