Is that really lighter than advertised? I don't think the registration weight is the same as the curb weight. But maybe I'm wrong.
Point well taken. I thought he was insinuating they weighted the car at DMV or inspection.
Which after I think about it doesn’t make sense. So it’s probably not accurate.
Let's be honest gentlemen, the weight is the biggest disappointment with the C7 Z..... Z06 is supposed to stand for a light weight model.... Not the heaviest.
Do I still want one, yes!

Not true. The Z06 is supposed to stand for the most track-capable model of Corvette, which it is. If you think a lighter-weight car is the answer, then go for it. But you will likely lose on the track to the C7 Z06. But at least you'll feel great knowing your car is lighter weight, right?
I can only assume you don't track much by your statement. weight is one of the biggest penalties to a car that tracks, particularly lap after lap. His prior response was correct, how can your most track ready car gain so much weight and be acceptable? It is the one are that the manufacture has more control than anyone and should have been a primary design goal. I think hard to argue against that.
I think the reality by offering in a conv and with a Targa, they made the trade-off to add more weight to get these features for more sales to a broader market that they know will never take the car to the track. Probably a reasonable business trade-off, but less than ideal for the track.

Who cares??? My '15 Z is awesome, gorgeous. Who cares??? Don't buy one. 99.9% will never track their Z. I love mine and I don't care what it weighs. Thppppppppt or here's a towel, cry in it or wipe your face. Are you kidding me???
Kind of an odd response to the thread. Car is stated as "most track capable corvette" and the discussion is about weight which is directly applicable to that and you say "who cares, my car is pretty"?
I guess your point is we should not care about the attributes that contribute to its performance for its intended purpose from the manufacturer? Ok, I think that is fair, just be sure to respond to anyone that ask you about its performance with "who cars, it looks great!"

You ot to use spell check. oops. " Most track capable corvette" Not Ferrari, Porsche , oops again. That weight only counts if you are going to track the car and then the driver ability has a lot to do with it. Last checked, Corvette was 1 & 2 at Daytona in their class. Ya, it looks great and again most won't ever track their Vettes. Who cares. It looks great. Oh, if you want to ask about it's performance, Who cares, my car is sure pretty.
