i doubt we'll ever know for sure. It could be any top other than the acrylic top is slowing the process but either way we'll have to wait until they build them
I think you may be right on all points.
All tops other than transparent top are carbon fiber tops...some exposed carbon fiber and some painted. There seems to be a significant correlation between TPW being pushed back and the type of top(s). Not all together surprising considering just about anything on the C7 that is carbon fiber has been, or is, constrained.

That's why it is called TPW... target production week and NOT exact production week. There's soooooo many variables at play when it comes to vehicle manufacturing. At the end of the day, GM will build your car when all the pieces of the build puzzle come together. Not sure if you've ever been on a plant tour, but this might be a great time to take one? You'll be amazed at the complexity...
Well now my TPW is 3/16 again - this time moved in a week. Does make me feel more it was do to a constraint, but I like the thought that they are making a change due to having many in the wild now.
My TPW has not moved from 3/2/15. A8 coupe, Shark Grey, black wheels, CFZ, 3LZ jet black, carbon interior, carbon flash mirrors. I have the standard, painted roof.
I ordered from Mac Mulkin. I am not sure if the higher volume dealers get any priority, just throwing it out there.
True on the above, I just think we are all getting a bit anxious
That is an understatement! Mine had an original 3/2 TPW, but I have not checked to see if it moved. It will get here, when it gets here. If it isn't here when I get back from the Philippines on April 24th, then I will join you nervous nellies.

It doesn't' matter what dealer purchased from!
I but my vettes from MacMulkin!
Once dealer places order N GM accepts it, it is out of
dealers hands!
It goes to production control, they order parts according
to your build & set TPW!!

Don't have a dog in the fight - just watching and waiting for the dust to settle. I will offer one personal "observation", validity unknown. When I see cars stacking up (beyond the norm?), and a couple of buyers saying their car went from ready to ship to "bayed", and a poster indicating he had pictures from the plant that he could not release (sworn to secrecy), and now slipping TPWs, it makes me suspect a mid-year production change to some component is taking place. That's what "QC" is all about. I've had it happen to me a couple of times when I ordered early production-run cars - annoying because of the time delay, but in the end, a good thing. Better than a recall! If this is the case, it would be nice if GM would step up and keep their valued customers informed.
Pappy
This happens often and across the line. GM rarely (never?) admits the cause and those times the cause has been identified is not because of GM admissions but because vehicles on lots and already delivered are recalled.
I agree repair at the factory is better than depending on a part getting to a dealer timed to meet ones own life needs. I think this is more normal industry wide than we are willing to accept but because so many more Corvettes are retail ordered AND so many who order are members of these various forums, we read about these events as if they are abnormal.
I would like to add a note about the carbon fiber roof issues. Although I have owned two Corvettes I come from the tuner world, which uses after market carbon fiber parts almost as extensively as sound system etc. upgrades. Carbon fiber is tricky, needs a lot of man hours, and therefore expensive and limited. The GM C7 roof supplier uses a pressed system that allows three roofs to be produced per hour. Three per hour, not three per minute. Reports indicate the company will add a second press system because of demand but I have seen no time frame for this to happen.
I repeat, CF components are labor intensive and susceptible to not coming out right and therefore expensive to produce and despite the press that allows production at dozens per day as opposed to the normal one or two per day still limited in numbers that can be made.
You don't want a car with only the clear top, Great second top would suck as "only top".
I had JUST the clear top on my C6, but decided on two this time (clear and CF). On VERY hot very sunny days that clear top can be a bit of a "head cooker"
