If you don't mind me asking and bring it a hair off topic, what are the exact rules these days for when you need certain safety upgrades to the car on the track? I did a quick google search and google is getting the better of me.

Might want to PM Dave and ask him if there's a competent flex tuner in your area.

His URL reloads to his Facebook page: www.dsxtuning.com
IMO this makes E85 the only way to fly

Thanks for the reply and the suggestions

I don't understand how some of you guys are saying it's major mods. I can do a flex fuel sensor and swap injectors on my cruze for $600 in about an hour and have a tune to go along with it. How is that not minimal ? Intake, headers, e85 conversion and drs. Unless times are really changing that's very basic simple stuff ???

Because they don't know how to work on cars? These are very basic mods, where you start hitting major is when you open up the motor, cam and such. E85 on a C6 is a b!tch because you have to change the fuel pump which is a PITA. If you don't have to swap it in the C7 its a no brainer.

Jeremy, I'm surprised you haven't ported your blower yet.

Talk to locals and the track. You can read the NHRA rule book but it just depends on where you race.

It's not like older cars which struggle to run E10.
Not sure what you mean by "older cars" but I converted my '85 about 5 years ago and am still waiting for something to go wrong. By "convert" I mean injectors, fuel pump, and a tune. There is a lot of FUD around.

Using a flex fuel sensor you can tune the car based on the ETOH percentage, different tunes automatically kick in depending on how much alcohol is present.

So you can run normal petro gas, but probably want to show up for the tune with an empty tank so you can get the top tune with a tank full of E85 and your tuner works the other tunes down with lower ETOH concentrations (e.g., one tune for 70, one for 50, and one for E10). Or maybe they work up if you show up with a tank full of E10.

So yeah people, you can stop posting about "widely available fuels." With a good flex fuel kit you can run anything, including 91 octane E10. The tune just won't be as aggressive when you do.

If anyone is interested, CF member Dave Steck sells a flex fuel kit.
Interesting. Thanks!

Fair enough... My bad. Do these simple mods void the warranty?

Void Warranty?

No offense to you Keeks, but come on...enough with the warranty stuff.

Fact is, which nobody here as even mentioned, is that racing your car at the track is grounds for voiding your warranty. Clutches and VHT prepped tracks are not ever going to agree and the first time you slip the clutch to get a good 60' you are really abusing your car for what GM engineered the car to do.

The topic of this thread was a "TRACK TIME", point is this whole thread is about an action that is for people that don't give a **** about a warranty.

Please enough with that. For the people that are concerned about warranties, stop lurking in these threads in which the topic is modding the car for improved performance. Go study Zano car wax or something.

Sorry, just sick of watching threads get high jacked with debates about what is considered a major mod or what voids a warranty.

This thread is for "Warranty voiding, haulin ***, and ripping the 1/4 mile".

Everybody else....Go wash your car and focus on buying a car cover at Pepboys.

Now...Great Job tuning!

Does anybody know if the Rev limiter was raised?

watched him race at the track last night. I'll let him post his numbers later if he so wishes. Car launches really well.

EDIT: Nevermind guess he didn't waste time throwing it up
