it's all about the power-train and the suspension.

Callaway is the only one with a power train warranty which supplements the factory GM coverage.

If you are waiting for the best C7 to track ( not necessarily the fastest ), Id keep waiting.

My guess is they will make some sort of track special C7, with the tires/brakes of the Z06 but with less power and adequate cooling for long sessions at high temps.

If you want the fastest, the Z06 will likely be the fastest C7 they make, as I cant imagine them making a "ZR1" with 750+ HP.

I've read everything there is to read on the C-7 Z51 and the Z06. Fortunately, I can afford either car and had almost decided upon the Z.

Bondurant Driving School a few years back, so I feel I can handle the horsepower safely. However, I never track my cars and the question I am asking myself is should I go for the 3LZ Stage 1 Z06 or will I have buyer's remorse if I choose the Z-51.

Opinions welcome.
i am kind of like you. bought a c4 new, a c5 vert new, a c6 vert new. but when the zr1 came out, i bought that too ---what fun---a whole different beast.....
i still have the c5, the c6 and the zr1, but i have ordered a z06 A8 vert and cannot wait....a fast automatic, a vert, and 650HP all in one...oh boy.
go for it....

I would humbly disagree. If the Z/28 had been a market success, then maybe a track special C7 would have been viable. But the big discounts necessary to move the Z/28's have probably killed that idea Corvette wise. If there is a mid-engined Corvette coming in the near future (4-6 years), I'd guess Chevrolet would decide that's a better place to spend development money.

If you are not planning to track the car, the Z07 package is really expensive gingerbread, IMHO, that you will like damage on speed bumps and the tires are not much good in the wet....

Good point, but the problem is the Z/28 is still very overweight and Camaros are viewed as a kid's car--who buys a 65,000 car that comes with Clearasil in the glove box? I think a well executed Corvette track special--by order only--would do well if GM understands "well" may only be less than one thousand copies each year. See Porsche GT4, or GT3 RS.
