I picked my Z06 up today at the museum and I noticed blemishes on the leather grab bar on the passenger side. They tried to clean it up but could not and then told me they could do nothing else about it. I discussed this with Shane and I told him one of the reasons I selected museum delivery was because I wanted the factory to address these types of issues. He told me the factory until last Thursday did address such issues but the museum received a directive from GM legal that delivery defects had to be addressed as a warranty item by a dealer. Apparently the dealers were complaining about losing reimbursable warranty work and that resulted in the change. Needless to say I was disappointed because I would have preferred the factory to address it. I was told it is a minor fix but nonetheless I would have preferred it be done at the factory.
I also asked about a mid engine C-8 and it ain't gonna happen anytime in the foreseeable future. The concern is that the car would be too expensive to appeal to the Corvette target market.
If you have already visited the museum and the plant IMHO the benefit of taking muesum delivery has been meaningfully reduced.
Definitely sad news. My wife and I pick up our car at the museum this Monday. Without any doubt, the reputation of the museum's PDI was a MAJOR factor in choosing museum delivery.
Put as diplomatically as possible, "GM needs to grow a pair."
Part of what makes NCM delivery actually work is that you know the car will be in good condition.
Also the idea that the factory won't fix issues is super dumb. Are they telling us that if the car won't start or has a mechanical problem that we will have to take it to the dealer instead of them getting that resolved? Or is this just about cosmetic stuff.
Regardless it's bs. And I say this as someone with an appointment to pick up my car in 4 days.

Look it over good. I found 3 major paint flaws on mine after I got it home and cleaned it up. The museum denied missing them but they all had clear coat over the defect. Luckily my dealer stepped up and repaired them all with no question. There are many of us with similar stories.

Really? I think I need to make another call to Shane, then. Just yesterday (after last Thursday), I talked with him about the inspection process for my delivery in a little more than a week. And he told me that they do their first inspection at the plant, specifically so that the plant could address any issues that were found. This seems to be in conflict with what he told you, which is troubling.
Two different versions, in two days, with the same NCM person --- someone needs to get the definitive word from NCM and/or Corvette. ~$1K for NCM delivery is still ~$1K for some people....
Had a similar issue today with my NCM delivery. Center stack radio screen door dropped a screw and broke the internal plastic gear. Screen door does not close smoothly and NCM asked a factory tech to try and fix or replace the unit for me. No luck, as of last week any defects must be covered under warranty by a dealership. Not what I wanted to hear, especially after spending the extra money to have the NCM do the PDI only to find out they can no longer fix minor issues. I like others thought the NCM PDI took extra steps to ensure a perfect delivery since the factory is right across the street. BAD move on GM's part! Screw the customer and favor the whining dealerships! I loved the previous NCM deliveries I had in the past, but this new GM decision will be my last NCM delivery. No offense to the NCM because they really try to please the customer and it was a great experience. It is GM corporate making another customer PR mistake that will cost them in the end!
They might change their tune when people don't pick up the car. If I had a major paint issue I'd leave the car and go back home. My guess is it would get fixed.
I would seem to me that if the NCM was collecting the PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection)fee, plus the NCM Delivery fee, these items should be check and corrected prior to delivery to the Customer. Otherwise, the NCM will be delivering Buff and Shine!!!!
I would expect the Dealer to correct any issues prior to delivery to the customer.

I'd think long and hard before I'd take that approach. I own the car. The museum is 800 miles from my home. Neither the museum nor the factory is equipped for customers to leave cars for warranty work. And I'd bet they would inform me not leave the car. I'd rather not play tough guy when standing in the middle of my opponent's sandbox.

Hopefully they will get it sorted out. It doesn't make a lot of sense to pick it up there if they don't fix the problems for you. I picked mine up at my dealer on Tuesday and there were no issues. I was 30 minutes from home and I saved $1,000. If there had been a major problem I could have handled it any way I wanted to. It almost seems like museum delivery could be a negative at this point.

Reason: grammar
I had a same story ! I drove my z06 home from the museum, only had 80 miles on it and noticed all 4 of my rims had scratches
( not from a rock or anything like that) . I called the museum and they were like, nope, we would have noticed any defects before we let the car go.. Call you dealer, which i did and luckly my dealership after about a month , got GM to cover it and get me 4 new rims !
And yes, i went over the car at the museum as best i could with there lighting and such.. Just glad it finally got resolved !!

They told me the same thing about my three paint defects, "Our crack PDI team never misses anything here. Must have happened after it left" It was insulting to say the least. I had stars in my eyes at the museum, never would have thought to look for defects. I thought that's what the $990 is for.
I spent 3 hours at the dealership looking mine over to make sure nothing was wrong. I stayed with it from the time it rolled up on the car carrier until I drove it home. If you inspected it at the museum and didn't see it and then the problems were with the rims I can understand why they may have thought you did it. Paint defects are a whole different animal. I had some spots that looked like they were in the paint that were just from travel. I polished them out in no time while I was at the dealership.
