Default Revving Issue?

I have a little over 350 miles on my Z06 and when I give it gas when it is in park, it doesn't seem to rev high sometimes (3-4,000 rpms). It sounds like it is bogging and I don't get that crisp high revving sound. I have the exhaust in track mode. If I stomp on the gas quick it will work sometimes. Does this happen to anyone else.

Thanks,

Phil

Sounds like the rev limiter is kicking-in to save the engine as it is not broken in yet. You can exceed the "safe" RPM max by driving, but not by idle-reving.

Thanks,
I thought that might have something to do with it.

If the driving mode is in track mode, could be the launch control keeping the RPM's down.

Sounds like an auto, which may never free rev to redline as many autos now a days have a lower limiter in park. If you blip from lower it revs so fast that it can blow through it slightly by a few hundred rpms, report back after 500 as I'm curious if it changes or maybe someone else will chime in with an auto that is broken in.

Crisp high revving sound?
Revving the engine in park is not wise and is about the hardest there is on your engine. I cringe when I hear high revs and the car is in park. There's no need to do it at all.

It is an automatic and it goes nowhere near redline in park. It just seems to hesitate and bog sometimes when I give it a little gas in park.

Mine's an A8, fully broken in, and does the same thing hot or cold.

If I'm in park, and just tap the gas......much like you'd tap or click a mouse, just a very, very quick blip.....which should be just enough to make it rev to maybe 2000-2500rpm, it hesitates and the revs do not rise at all. I thought it was a miss or bog, the first time I noticed it.

If I'm in Park and I open the gas quickly in the same manner, only this time I hold it open, and do not blip it......the engine hesitates momentarily, then settles into a steady 2000-2500rpm.

At first I thought the throttle blip hesitation in Park was a bog, but now I'm wondering if it's just the computer keeping the throttle closed. There is some delay in the electronic throttle from the time you step on the gas, to the time the throttle blade opens. If a throttle blip occurs fast enough, within this delay time, then the throttle may not open fully, or at all. That's one guess as to what it is...

It's not the throttle, it's torque management/ignition timing.

A8 or M7, tap the gas and ignition timing goes negative. Why it is programmed like this from the factory I have no idea.

That is exactly what mine does and I thought the same thing. I am glad that this is normal and not an issue.

Thank you

So if at the track you can't launch higher than 4k rpm?

this, and it is far and away the worst thing about the car, sometimes literally ruining the driving experience.

if anyone has a good way to completely fix this and make the throttle act like it is actually connected to the gas pedal.. at least MOST of the time i would pay money for that info.

we have adjusted the minimum timing to 12 but still see activity pulling it to zero and below at times. i believe this same issue is inconsistently affecting my dragstrip launches.

Forum member Higgs Boson has done some good work on throttle response on C7's.
