Default Trying to pick headers - looking for input

2015 Z06. Halltech intake. Headers next up.

Kooks, ARH, or LG ?

What size ? I'm getting lots of conflicting advise from the tuners I've called. Hennessey says 1-3/4. One guy at LG says 1-3/4", another says 1-7/8. Lingenfelter says 1-7/8 or 2".

I'm planning on long tubes with hi flow cats. Just need to pick a brand and size

Anyone have any advise or experience with these brands?

Not sure who you would have spoken to here, but if you were asking about C7 headers we only made a few prototype 1 3/4 headers. All production units are either 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 stepped design or a straight 1 7/8".

I'm assuming who ever you spoke with knew it was going on a Z06, if that was the case then the choice should be 1 7/8, although both fit the car.

All of our big power/supercharged applications have used the larger headers.

LG Motorsports Super Pro 1 7/8 C7

Contains all four OEM 02 bungs and includes Wide Band bung on the driver side at no extra cost

OEM muffler connections

  • High Flow Merge collector with fiire cone
  • 3" header collector
  • 3" high flow Siamese X pipe design
  • off-road pipes, or optional high flow 3" cats
  • Includes GM gaskets
  • Includes 02 extensions
  • Stainless construction
  • Limited lifetime warranty
  • Connects to OEM or OEM replacement mufflers

We are running American Racing Headers 2" long tubes with catless x pipe on our 2015 Z06. The fit & finish hands down is the best of all brands we have installed on corvette's here at the shop

Thanks for the info. How do you feel about 2"? I've got a Halltech intake, 15% overdrive pulley, and the headers as probably all I will do on this car..

To me the quality of Kooks is the best. You can not go wrong with any of these brands. Kooks is the official header and exhaust manufacturer for NASCAR! They must do something right.

There are currently some wicked builds in pipeline that are about to surface using the ARH C7 systems.

We'd be very happy to discuss which system is best based on your specific needs.

PM sent.

ARH 1 7/8" were excellent quality and easily installed on my C6 so that's what I'm going with again on my new Z06!

No reason for a header tube that big on an engine that small with no more boost than it is making.

I'm a nobody here, just a random opinion... I did an exact Q&A on the tech section of this very forum. Most answers I received had an affinity for ARH. I did much research and ultimately ended up purchasing Kooks long tube headers with an catted X-Pipe. I chose them based on several factors one being 100% made in USA. I know ARH is made here too, however, price played an issue too. I saw as much as $200-$300 more for what I feel is negligible advantages.

Fit, form, and function they're all the same.. They exhaust (no pun intended) however, if you look closely at the materials as well as design they're slightly different. As far as size goes.., most will tell you sub 900hp applications use 1-7/8" buuuuut... How much torque do you really need? If I were in your shoes I'd buy 2" and call it good. Pick a brand you like their advertisement the best and you'll be happy you chose those. I chose Kooks because I go a better deal on them. Hope this helps.
