Just for everyone's information. I received an email from Elite yesterday informing me that they now are starting to sell their catch can kit for the LT4 engine of the Z06. I had inquired several weeks ago. The installation instructions can be downloaded from their website.

I looked at the instructions. I installed my E2 catch can exactly the same way as in the instruction's.
Issues I had were. To start I cleaned my blower under the hood and for 9300 miles it wasn't too much there.

I proceeded to use a Delron plug to plug provided and an RTV sealant
prepped the hole with alcohol.
After day 2 I was back in there. I had a time with stuff sticking and holding well enough to seal the hole air tight.

I ran the can a few days and emptied oil twice 5-6 oz total.
With around 100 miles between checking.
I checked under the blower hood I cleaned before and found
about as much oil in only 200 miles which was being sucked through the can right back in the intake and left a nice trail of oil coming straight from the power booster line which is tied as a outlet from the can itself.

I cleaned the under the blower hood again the car is going in for the dealer to replace the PVC that I plugged. I removed the plug and everything stuck RTV and then JB weld 3 and 4th tries to it but not so much to the blower where the hole comes through.
I'm back to stock withy no can and no issues about oil!
I should get photos soon of my valves and their condition.

Definitely want to see the photos of the valves.
That will likely tell me if I want to add this.

They're in the instructions document. What will photos of the valves prove?

So, I have a question.

On my other cars the idea has been that if I ever keep them long enough to need to get a smog check here in California, I would temporarily remove the can and go smog the car, then put the can back on.

What happens in this case were you are plugging the hole and using superglue/JB Weld to secure the plug??

For 3 ZO6ZR1:
The instructions show a soft tapered Aluminum plug being tapped into place to plug the valley opening without any RTV or JB Weld etc. Why didn't your installation do it this way?

I was referring to 3 Z06ZR1's photos that he will be taking of his "intake" valves with his SC off. And with about 11000 miles it should be telling of the affect the inlet oil fumes has on this DI engine.

If you look at the photo of the kit, I believe as was mentioned in another Thread that the plug will be Derlin material not aluminum.
It was mentioned to add RTV or silicone high temp sealer then install the plug into that.

Not so. I downloaded the instructions from Elite and and the verbage as well as a picture show and discuss a tapered soft aluminum plug being hammered into place. They use super glue to stick the plug on a dowel to get it into the hole and then tap it into place and remove the dowel.

Check the plug that is supplied with the kit...Derlin not aluminum.
Not the install pics, the pics of the purchased kit. They initially were using aluminum but switched to Derlin in case it came loose it would fragment better than the aluminum in the SC blades.

Super glue is used to hold the plug to a dowel and then pushed into the tube. You can use a sealant in the tube to seal the opening before plugging.

It would never work without some kind of sealant!

Confusing. I emailed Elite to see why their instructions still show an Al plug if that's not used anymore.

I never read where the catch can would prevent a CA car from passing smog. Just because they're not CARB approved (yet) doesn't mean it will fail the sniffer test. Maybe a visual but most guys don't know what they are looking at. Will a catch can cause an emission problem?

Ahhhhhhjust went on a almost 2200 mile road trip to Florida then back and boy does the can work awesome! Still clean under the SC and turned the valve and emptied it twice once when I got to Fernandina Beach and then when I got home. Total about 3oz of nasty came out..
