How the finished result turns out, re: optical clarity, lack of 'ripples', etc. is all down to the expertise of the installer. Clearplex can be far more difficult to install than clear bra due to its thickness. It doesn't bother me at all even though mine's not perfect. I'd rather keep the windshield pristine and let the Clearplex take the hits; this is a bad area for windshield pitting, rock damage. HUD stills works perfectly.

I have heard that the wipers scratch the stuff up is that true? Detail shop here said if you are a rain driver the stuff look scratchy pretty quickly.
4500 miles on the car and the windshield is REALLY pitted. My work BMW sees same roads and has twice the mileage and is pretty clean. Worse driving this time of year when the sun angles are low. Anybody experience this ? Front of car is filmed and has 0 marks but windshield is toast. You would think they would both be marked up.
Can't get a picture that would show it well
I had mine replaced already, took a piece of gravel dead center of the windshield and cracked it.

New Z96..,with 500 miles I went to clean off a spot on windshield right in drivers view. Sadly realized it was a small chop. Size of ballpoint pen. Most would nor notice it. I called the glass repair folks and they said its to small to fix.
It drives me nuts!!! I guess I could hit it with a hammer and get it replaced! I'm gonna wait for the inevitable and more damage will get it replaced!! Question...have USAA insurance...will they pay for OEM glass?

Same here. A few hard to see "ripples" that I don't even notice anymore unless I look for them. Will replace ClearPlex as necessary.
I have 2 chips on the windshield I got the day after I bought the car. Had about 40 miles on it.
I drove to Safelite last week.
The tech said the chips were pits and not repairable (by them anyway).
The pits are noticeable from 15 feet.
Can you give us any additional information on the kit you mentioned such as brand, install, etc?
I just went to Walmart and found the windshield repair kit for $11 plus tax, so I don't know how good it works yet.

Any experience with the wiper issue?
Thanks
Simply not an issue in my experience. Just make sure that there is water/rain already on the windshield area then turn on the wipers. Everyone should always do this regardless.
