4500 miles on the car and the windshield is REALLY pitted. My work BMW sees same roads and has twice the mileage and is pretty clean. Worse driving this time of year when the sun angles are low. Anybody experience this ? Front of car is filmed and has 0 marks but windshield is toast. You would think they would both be marked up.
The vette is lower to the ground. You have to put more distance between you and the guy ahead to avoid the stone chips. Even then you'll pick up a few from oncoming traffic.

No lower than my 2 911's. And they had twice the mileage . Going to ask the windshield guys how much " impairs vision" . Who knows
Replace the windshield then immediately protect it with Clearplex. Just make sure the installer gets the 48" width to cover the windshield top to bottom.

Need to back off and watch the people in front of you! Trucks esp or cars that veer on the edge of the shoulder and I mean just barely, construction areas, NEVER an uncovered or even a covered dump truck of any kind!
Over 150K of motorcycle miles teach you these kinds of things...
You can fix pits 1 at a time and they are gone.
Just use a fix kit for 10 bucks from walmart or anywhere.
Just like you fix a chip.
Afraid it's sandblasted. Don't know how if insurance works on these cases. Interesting that the hood, lights, fenders not touched ( all filmed but even that gets nicked) I missed on the clear plex idea

Wow I have over 11k and 1 pit I could see. I don't do gravel roads though.

Yup! I had ClearPlex put on my front windshield a couple of months after buying the car. A week later I took a 400 mile roundtrip to visit some friends. During the drive, I had at least two major rock strikes that would've done noticeable damage, but they bounced off the ClearPlex. Also got peppered a couple of times with smaller rocks/gravel, but no damage. Product is worth it to me.
I had a professional detail shop install ClearPlex and they weren't pleased with the install instructions, but were able to get in right after struggling with it. Price for ClearPlex kit and install was approx. $400.

I have 2 chips on the windshield I got the day after I bought the car. Had about 40 miles on it.
I drove to Safelite last week.
The tech said the chips were pits and not repairable (by them anyway).
The pits are noticeable from 15 feet.
Can you give us any additional information on the kit you mentioned such as brand, install, etc?

Check with your insurance agent/adjuster. Do you have full glass coverage? They will usually cover replacement of windshields that reduce your vision since that could lead to an accident. Glass replacements and any other comprehensive insurance claims do not increase your rate or affect your safe driver discounts.
My Clearplex 48" with install was $350. Worth every penny as I took a major rock hit a couple of weeks back that 'dented' the Clearplex but never touched the windscreen. If it had I'm almost certain it would have cracked it. Clearplex is also excellent for anyone who tracks their cars, as it's very easy for debris to be thrown up when following closely at speed. If the Clearplex looks like ***** after a track season, replace it.

These HUD windshields must b softer. Same driving habits I've had on my last 8 cars. No Clear Plex dealers for 150 miles or more . Is that product really transparent? No pun intended. I'm usually fanatic about windshields , rain x, inside of shield cleaned etc.

How the finished result turns out, re: optical clarity, lack of 'ripples', etc. is all down to the expertise of the installer. Clearplex can be far more difficult to install than clear bra due to its thickness. It doesn't bother me at all even though mine's not perfect. I'd rather keep the windshield pristine and let the Clearplex take the hits; this is a bad area for windshield pitting, rock damage. HUD stills works perfectly.
