How would you feel about a standard wide-body C7?

You are just wrong. I would not have sold my base c6 convertible, which was jest team blue w/red interior ordered from the factory, plus tons of carbon and chrome. If my only choice was an upgrade to a base c7, no thank you. I loved my C6 and it was paid for a long time ago.
And I have had this discussion with many of my friends, and they totally agree. My car was an 08, so no GS available that year (or else I would have bought a GS).

My point is that a C7 buyer is going to buy a C7. GS available or not.
So there wasn't a C6 GS available... but you bought a C6 anyway... That's my point!

I am just saying that a GS will ONLY attract buyers that want a C7 anyway... It will NOT bolster sales like the OP suggested.

Too old
I'm too damn old to race (track) anymore, and too dumb to realize it, so a GS version would suit me fine.
I love my Z06, but I don't "NEED" all that power; the 505hp of my
2013 427 vert would do just fine if they eliminated the bugs of the '13
LS7s (I had one of the bad ones, blew at 3,480 miles.)
A GT with a touring tire that delivered enough mileage for cross country and back would be great for me.

That's not what I saw with the C6 GS. I had plenty of friends that didn't like the base C6 styling and didn't want a high powered fixed roof, manual transmission car(Z06). It took the GS to get them to trade in their C5's for a C6.
Many of them asked me about the ride of my C6 Z06 as they didn't want a car that rode rough as they suspected the GS would(because it was also a Z51).
If the Z06 or the GS had never been offered, I would have never purchased a C6. I ONLY liked the wide body look on the C6(but the additional performance of the Z06 was a plus in my little black book).

How would you guys feel about a standard wide-body C7 with fenders matching the Z06? I think it would really help bolster the standard cars sales numbers with a much more aggressive look and the Z06 would still have a huge HP advantage and the Z06 badges.
(Edit: Sorry guys I think Chevy noticed this thread and decided to push out the GS)

Uhhhh, Tadge says your wrong. Actually I agree with you....the Z06 should be a Z06, no T-tops, auto, FI....what are these guys at GM thinking?

If the GS was the "base" model, they would most likely actually lose some sales as not everyone can afford the extra $8,000(est) cost.
To carry on with your logic, GM should only offer the Z06 with all the options as the "base" model(even though it would mean that most buyers would opt out and the Corvette would be dropped out of GM's line up) at $110,000.

I'll respectfully disagree with you. I had no interest in the base C6 because it wasn't aggressive enough like the Z06 and the price of the Z06/ZR1 was more than I wanted to pay although I could've afforded it. I don't really like supercharged engines and the valve dropping issues of the LS7 were the factors that pushed it over the edge. In short, there wasn't a C6 marketed I was interested in...until the GS came out. I bought a 2011 GS 6M coupe for my daughter and it turned out to be a fantastic autocross car. Even though it was classed with the Z06, my daughter had no problem beating the other ladies who were all driving Z06s.
Not everyone wanted the GS in 2010 as shown by the continued sales of the base C6. If GM had dropped the base C6 when they intro'd the GS, then I bet overall sales of the 2010 C6 would have decreased as there would not have been an low cost "entry level" option for the buyer. Plus some people preferred the base car's styling over the more aggressive styling of the GS and would have passed on buying a new Corvette in 2010 if the base car had been dropped from the lineup.
For me personally, I would have never purchased a C6 if the wide body styling had never been offered. I went with a 2009 Z06, but I might have considered a GS over the Z06 if the GS had been available in the 2009 lineup. I would have never traded in my C5 for a base C6 as I didn't care that much for it's "mild" styling.

Sometimes I feel like I'm living in an alternate universe when I see people writing that they don't "need" extra horsepower on their Corvette.
Of course you don't "need" it. You don't "need" a Corvette either. That's the point: a Corvette feeds your "want", not your "need". Save the comments about "needing" a certain amount of HP for your daily beater.
