Go on a rod run with a bunch of hot rods and old muscle cars. No run flats and a vast majority don't carry spares. I never do. Plug kit and 12 volt compressor.... That's all you need. No spare in my 1969 Camaro - trunk is finished and no room for one.

Ha Ha my wife also has a car with nail magnets for tires. We've had runflats for many years now on BMWs and they have saved us a couple of times. When I need new tires on the Z06 (probably this year) I will stick with the factory run flat Michelins from Costco (if they will put them on--some don't ) or a dealer who does a lot of C7s. In fact I have talked seriously with my BMW dealer (where I worked for several years) about doing them and they said they would be fine with it. They do a lot of large wheel and tire run flats on the big BMWs and just bought the latest Hunter tire busting and balancing equipment. Probably will just have them order the tires from Tire Rack (which they will do at the Tire Rack price) and have them mount them. My only worry is whether they can get my low C7 onto as rack safely. We'l have that discussion with the techs before committing.--Bob

by non run flats are you talking about pss or the new ps4s? Do you install at your shop, I think we are both in the Syracuse Corvette club. Jim mentioned that you own the collision shop.

Steve, I run MPSS non run flats on the street and Cup 2 run flats at the track. My shop is 80% collision repairs. We only install and balance "normal" vehicle tires and take my Z06 tires and customers high end rubber to Cantech just down the road from us. 315-452-1168 talk to Mike. I bet we met at one time or another.

Ok guys so I finally mounted the 275/30/19 and 325/25/20 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. I had Continental 285/30 and 335/25 tires before. In comparison, there is in fact more contact tread on the Michelins, although the sidewall is a bit smaller on them, both front and rear in comparison to the Conti's. I wish they made the 4s in stock size, or at least in 325/30/20. But for now, these will do just fine. They are very well reviewed and I'm looking forward to experiencing the better performance the next couple of seasons with the new tires.
My new wheels are the same widths as my stock Z06 wheels 19x10 and 20x12

FWIW I just corded my front MPSS ZP after 14279 miles running exclusively the dsc “moderate to heavy track” specs. They were street use only as I have been swapping to cup2s for track.

I the best tire is a depends thing. The most Michelin pilot super sports are the best all around in my humble option. But I did get Toyo R888R Tire’s for my rears to try for straight line performance gains. I got 19x12 Z06 reproduction wheels to mount the 345/30R19 tires. My original MPSS are a complete second set of rear wheels and tires, so I can switch them back and forth between the Toyos as needed.
Short answer to this thread is no need to choose a best tire when you got interchangeable options. But again MPSS are best if I had to choose one tire for the street.
