There's a long thread elsewhere on this forum that included posts claiming that installation of the Corsa resulted in a loss of torque. With many members of this forum using the Corsa, I would think we could come across a bunch of before/after dyno numbers (or, 1/4 mile runs). I have a Corsa ready to install and need to decide what to do. I want the "better" sound, but don't want to spend money to lose power! anyone here have some facts for us??

You can believe what you choose, most people do and it's hard to change your mind after spending $500 bucks. I know I would most likely go ahead with the install myself. And I would of liked to of had some improvement but I took mine to the drag strip and reported on "my" results. I do not get a kick out of seeing $500+ dollars standing in the corner but between more power (stock) and more sound I sucked the lost up and took the power.
The Problem: Most people don't take their cars to the track after an X-pipe install or before. They hear the sound which cries performance and like myself they think bigger has got to be better so they think from the sound the car is faster.
Good luck with your decision. If you do the install, please do the before and after testing and report your results. If you choose the dyno remember mid-range power is paramount to overall performance.

How can Corsa make the HP and torque claims if the results are fiction?
Also, I've read on Super Chevy magazine, and a few other locations that they did show HP AND torque gains from the Corsa double helix and Xtreme or Sport muffler systems.
I'm curious of how real world claims show no gain, yet the manufacturer and other sources show gains.
I've installed the entire cat-back from Corsa (double helix X-Pipe and Xtreme muffler system), which removed the secondary cats.
Yes, the sound is voluminous American V-8 at any RPM (much more than the stock NPP system).
I cannot, however, vouch for any HP or torque gains, as I've never done a before or an after dyno test.
I trusted the Super Chevy magazine test and believed the manufacturer's claims.
One thing for certain, the four 4.5" black round tips and the sound are incredible!
Still, curious why real world testing is proving different claims than manufacturer.

My Corsa has not been installed so I'd like to think it is returnable. I'd prefer to be swayed by some positive results from this forum, however.
First one wuth power loss reported. I posted on other thread one of my customers gained 6hp on dyno wuth x pipe. Another car with x pipe and cut cats was 18 at wheels. I have the corsa on my car and love it.
Install it man...Not going to lose any power whatsoever. I have both the x-pipe and extreme on mine plus a lot of other ish too which was all installed at the same time. Car is a beast! Id like to see the post where people are saying they are losing power...They probably installed wrong!

I have it and its the only exhaust mod I have. Two things I want to say:
1. The thought of removing a bit of restriction in the exhaust will cause power loss is a dumb one.
2. Even if it did lose a little, which is doesn't. The sound gains are worth it.
My Stingray was one of the Beta cars for Corsa 2 years ago...... it was a 14 Stingray. I do forget the numbers...sorry...I traded the car for a Z and have lost the Dyno results. BUT I did post them in the C7 general section a few years back and if you are so motivated go do a search. I am thinking the Xpipe got like 8HP and then the mufflers got 1 or 2 HP.
The dyno was done at Smokies in Akron Ohio in the fall of '13. They are great people and probably will share their experiences with you with just a phone call. 330-644-0021.
I know this was a stingray and not a Z......... BTW I have the original Xpipe on my Z but never dynoed it...... But seems to me HP has to go up.
I've owned a few corvettes and you want to do a modest improvement with big HP bang......headers and a tune.
I know the folks at Corsa and they are very conservative in what they advertise. If it is told by them it is gold.

My car was one of the beta cars for Corsa to design their new exhaust for the C7. I have to admit I don't have a lot of the technical interest a lot of you do, I learn enough to be dangerous!!! Corsa intalls their system and takes the car to Smokies Dyno in Akron Ohio. I've never heard of Smokies but I am really impressed.
The following charts represent the results of the custom tune that Smokies did on the car. I'm sure folks will post what all this means but the short version is if I got it right the stock car ran around 400 HP at the rear axle. The Corsa X pipe and extreme, but mostly the X pipe got 10 HP and the tune got another 16 for a total of 426. None of the charts show the base run, just the results of the tune so its' post Corsa. The tune is not a radical tune and their goal is to balance out the performance. They tell he the car is starving for air so I guess some new intake is on order.
I just loan the car to help the local guys develop product and sorry am only in the details on the surface. But if you want to call Smokies or Corsa I'm sure they would love to chat with ya and share the details.
And here is a link to a couple of pictures and clips of the dyno. Apparently the day the car was on the dyno a few neighboring businesses reported excess noise levels....imagine that!
Got my Corsa Double Helix midpipe installed today. It sounds so amazing in cold start! The crackles and pops during WOT shifting is amazing. Other than headers, I don't see the need to get aftermarket exhaust to improve on the sound. Will do proper videos with the microphone on the exhaust soon
