Hard to tell but it looks and sounds like that's an A8 being manually shifted? Point is this scenario had the Vette at a disadvantage because he had to upshift as soon as the race started or he short shifted. I am betting this race started at 60 mph? Exactly the worst place to catch an A8.
What trans did each one have ? It's my experience that like for like and the Z wins.
Z06 A8 is not good for rolls. Then even worse manual shifting.
M7 wins vs that Hellcat!
Nice find on youtube Mr brooks!
Maybe someday for you too can own one of either if you keep up the good grades in school.

Damn hellcats are 900 to 1000 lbs heavier, the Z06 should pull those cars easily and they don't. I am a chevy guy all the way, but the hellcats are stronger than they should be and the Z06's are weaker than they should be.
It is kind of funny to watch people post trying to make the Z06 look bad. It is what it is. I have the stage 3 aero Z07 package and I can feel the aero/drag the car creates. Its not surprising as it was designed for a road course as was the C6 Z06. Stock - It's roll prowess is second to the ZR1. It is not the fastest Corvette in a straight line. Good news for me - I have taken care of that by getting the car modded. It's really that simple. I love the car - one of the best I have owned - but every car has its thing. Drag, and heating issues are the C7 Z07's challenges. But they can be remedied.
I agree that an M7 will beat most HC's on average - trap speeds tell me that. HC's pull 124-127 MPH, Z06's 126-128 (average air/DA). It's close though.
There's no need to get worked up - or to troll about Z06 "excuses" - its just math really; power, weight, traction and drag.

The A8 should be manually placed in the lowest possible gear at a given MPH and as soon as you tromp on it put it back in automatic mode to shift itself. A8 should have the advantage over a M7 at any time
My take on this video is the z was manually shifting and wasnt running near redline. Those shifts were way too close in comparison to what i experience in my a8
