Which USB plug are you all using? Behind the screen or under console lid?
I'm choosing the one under the console. Leaving the phone there as well. With Android Auto you can do most normal functions right from the infotainment system. I'm really looking forward to using Google Maps.
Well I had the install done yesterday, Today I plug in my phone as I did not have time yesterday and nothing? My car does not see my phone? Samsung S5 VERSION 5.0. Tried plugging into all the USB Ports nothing? It does show my battery charging on my phone I installed the Android Auto app on my phone it says plug into vehicle USB?
in order to use, say Google maps, doesn't one need to keep the wifi service, hence OnStar?
Not interested in keeping OnStar so contemplating whether need to go in and get Android auto installed..
No - it uses the phone for the data service. Basically android auto turns your navigation screen and touch input into an extension for your smart phone.
How do I download google maps onto my C7 Screen, or does it work via my Iphone?
NW
I can only speak for Android phones. There is an Android Auto app that I downloaded onto my HTC phone. But I have yet to go to the dealer and have them do the software upgrade needed so that my car will interact with the app. My understanding is that google maps will then work through the Android Auto app.
Just had it done today at Criswell Chevrolet. They aligned my car, changed the oil, and flashed the infotainment system for Android Auto. I think it was around two hours total for all of it so I would say it doesn't take very long at all for the flash. Anyway, if you're in the area I would recommend Criswell.
My local dealer took 3.5 hours just to install AA in my 2016.
Needless to say I wasn't real happy with the dealership.
Called my dealership to see if they had the software update for installing Android Auto on my 2016 Z. They said......yes.......very cool. Bring you'r Z in and you'll be the first to get the install.
Not sure I want to be the first for the install. Infotainment system is working great. Really want to keep it that way. Has anyone had the install done by their dealership yet?
I'm starting to explore new territory with the nicer weather and I'm using Android Auto a lot. I love it. Especially that I can just speak the destination and not the address.
Question - my Samsung S7 gets super hot after a while. Is this happening to anyone else?
Well I watched and mine took longer than necessary someone kicked the power cord out of the wall that was hooked up to battery. Tech had to find a work around so we could start over.

Yes, my Edge S7 heats up like crazy...but it's because it keep the screen on and it's charging - so, normal!
