Mine does the "popping" as well. It is not the tire chatter when turning at full lock. This feels like it's in the steering? It will pop in different directions and either going forward or backwards while barely turning the wheel.

Mine just started making that pop noise, too. I know what the rearend chatter and the front tire noise sounds like and this is neither. Mine does it more often backing up, but occasionally at small turns going forward. I'd love to hear the cause before I take it to an inept dealer where they'll scratch their heads for a while. It doesn't do it all the time which would make it even more difficult to diagnose.

I haven't done that yet.

Based on your descriptions, it sounds to me we are all hearing the same thing.

I really would like to know exactly what part of the front suspension is "popping."
Perhaps it is normal and nothing to worry about, but I want a detailed explanation I can live with (sorry for being a pain-in-the-rear, guys).

After 650 miles I am finally starting to open it up and drive it hard.
I sure the heck want to be confident of the front end holding together when I push.

It's the tire skipping. The tire is literally almost coming off the ground and the force that was in place before it skips will cause your steering to smack.

If you really think something is wrong with the steering, you would definitely feel it at speed.

It's the front tires rolling contact patches binding up in a tight radius turn, then releasing as the bind up suddenly slips, creating the popping and jolting sensation. Think of it as somewhat analogous to tectonic plate movements storing and releasing energy

It is definitely not the tire skipping. You haven't heard what we are hearing. It happens when I'm backing out of my garage at 2 mph and barely turning the wheel.

At 2-3 miles mph backing out of the garage in the morning?

You're getting some type of mechanical popping sensation when backing up straight?

Is it a once and done deal, or does it repeat itself as you're backing out?

Mechanical, yes.
As soon as I turn the wheel to get the car straight, it happens.
VERY little steering input BTW.

For me, one and done...until I park again and let everything sit for awhile (for example, overnight).

Do you set the electronic parking brake each time you park for the night?

It'll usually only do it once or twice. Very odd. Never felt anything like it. I never use the parking brake. It feels like it's in the steering. Only happens at very low speeds. Def not turning the wheels anywhere near full lock

does it feel like it's in the column? Again there are so many things this could be. Probably best to go to shop.

Tough to tell. I'll bring it in if nobody else gets to the bottom of it, but like someone else posted, I'd rather not have my local dealer guess at what is going on. I'd rather 'tell' them what's wrong and get it fixed. Thanks guys.

Then clearly you're steering is completely ****ed up. For your personal safety, don't drive it and have it towed to your dealership for warranty service.

Hey guys, for those of you that are getting this "popping" noise, have you lowered your car? I lowered mine all the way down on the stock bolts and I'm wondering if this could have anything to do with it?
