Default Exhaust Tips

Does anyone know where to find black exhaust tips? I would rather not change the stock exhaust.

Drive for 500 miles in Track mode. You'll have two black exhaust tips.

I wondered if the gas I used just sucked. I like the Track exhaust sound, that is normally where it stays......I have black tips as you noted.

Anyone use Octane booster or Sea Foam in there gas at ever fill up? I was thinking of using Klotz Octane boost in every tank.

It just is what it is. In my experience I've had more problems than benefits with fuel additives. Biggest issue was my gas gauge went bonkers after adding Techron to a Nissan 370Z. Took a bunch of fillups to settle down.

When I saw all the carbon on my tips I was thinking that was not right. Got a little paranoid.

You will NOT harm your car using ethanol fuel, you will get slightly better fuel mileage using a non ethanol gasoline but it typically cost more, so the difference is minute. The only issue with a ethanol based fuel is if the fuel sits in your tank for a long period of time (months), ethanol MAY absorb water. If you plan to store the car, use a fuel stabilizer such as Stabil.

The high temp engine paint has held up surprisingly well. I did not expect it to work as well as it has. For $8 total spent, I'm happy.

Did you sand the tips or just clean them before applying paint. The paint idea might be a good idea and if you don’t destroy the finish you could always go back to the polished /chrome .

I did not sand for the exact reason you mentioned. If the paint doesnt work out, it will be easy to remove and go back to the polished tips. I just cleaned and degreased them before painting. I am still amazed at how well it is holding up. Heck, it is so cheap and easy, "redoing" it every year or so to keep them looking "nicely painted" (if needed) is nothing.

Cleaned my exhaust tips, gave a light steel wool treatment, painted flat black with high temp paint. Did that several years ago, and they still look great, in my view.
Certainly they are better than chrome with carbon smudges.
