Another Front Plate Thread ............ ;-)
If you reside as I do in a state (TX) that requires a front plate, have you committed the heretical act of installing it on your Z ? The permanent plates for my new Z have come in so I can no longer use the 90 day temporary dealer tag. Thoughts ...............

Now that's funny. Stopped twice in the Stingray. Beat both tickets. Be interesting to see how long I can go in the Z06 before I get stopped. The front plate looks even worse on the Z06 than it did the Stingray. It's gotta be the grill opening and the wide body.
Was stopped several times here in Republik of Maryland for several speeding tickets and "opted" to be written $75.00 tickets for not having front plate - but decided needed to put a front plate - and this is what I installed - it is mounted below the grille and can be removed for car shows, etc.
I use the same system as MDZ06Vetter. Not only keeps the police away but also does so in a way that keeps your intake clear. The factory options either block about a third of the intake, or sit on your paint.

That is good to know. I have the stage 2 splitter on order from Weapon X along with side skirts. I will have it mounted at that time. All I know is, the factory aero mount looks hideous in the center of the grill. I did a dummy install using black duct tape.
I have one of those. Just bought it. Still waiting to see how it goes.
I had one fix it on the 2008 Z06. I had a fix it ticket for front plate on my 2015 and a speeding where I wrote the Sheriff a ticket for limo tint on the front window.
Ended up still driving around with no front plate and no speeding ticket on my record but the Sheriff had to remove his tint from 16 Sheriff cars. I fought the law and won that time!
These cars have never had a front plate....2005 GTO, 2009 Vette, 2009 G8 GXP, 2015 Vette, 2016 Vette. I pass a local police almost every day running radar and have yet to receive any hassle. It seems like only the State Troopers are the only ones who pull you over for no front license plate. This I think is really stupid. Say I'm going from Clear Lake City to San Antonio...I'm doing the speed limit of 75 (no more than 80) and some Trooper is heading in the opposite direction. The trooper has to find a safe place to follow me, then he probably goes over 100 MPH for a few miles until he catches up to me and is able to pull me over. Is the 'reward' worth the risk of going over a median, and then hauling *** to catch me? I don't really think so, however there is no doubt that sometimes the troopers hit a jackpot and capture some bad guys.

I decided it wasn't worth the hassle of running without a plate. A couple of years ago IL stopped mailing out annual registration reminders and a lot of the local municipalities started writing a lot of expired registration sticker tickets and at the same time they also check for a front plate. I went with a low mount from Top Flight Reproductions along with the matching frame. The TFR mount took about 2 minutes to bolt into place and it doesn't block the grill as badly as the GM stock aero mount.
And yes I would much prefer to not have a front plate but after two friends got ticketed I knew my time was coming unless I just left it garaged all the time which isn't going to happen.

Your state assesses points iirc in addition to a fine. TX law has no points, $200 fine with a huge loophole. $10 administrative fee if the plate is on vehicle at time of initial request for a court appearance. This is done so that the issuing officer does not have to waste time on a court appearance for a class c misdemeanor that assesses no points to ones drivers license.
