Running an A8 convertible, barely 2600 miles on the beast, have never tracked it but today I had an overheating issue.. yup.. only 72 degrees out there this morning and I got the warning message flashing on the dash and the sound no one wants to hear..
I'd only put the top up and down a couple of times when there it was, "TOP SYSTEM OVERHEATED, PLEASE WAIT"...
Have never had an overheat issue with any of the other convertibles, and it never happened when temps were around the 100 degree mark (my cut off for top down cruising) so hopefully a once off occurrence, considering temps were only 72..
Time to look at a 2017 Z convertible, I've heard they've been able to fix the overheating issues..
PS: for all those that are about to get way to serious about this post.. IT'S TONGUE IN CHEEK.. so hop in that beast of yours and go for a really great drive!

I find my top only overheats if I'm putting it up and down a lot at the track and ambient temps are high. If I keep the speeds down to under 20 when putting the top up I think it's less wind load on the top motor, and it heats up less. Then I don't get the reduced power top mode.
I think it's an outrage for GM to sell us the "most convertible Corvette ever" and we can't use the top as much as we'd like. No one else should decide what the right amount is for me to put the top up and down but me, it's my car. This is an outrage. I will not rest until I've told every soul on earth.
