You're close, you need a space between format and the J and after the :
That's why you're getting that error.

Like this:

format J: /FS:FAT32

Also you need to look on windows explorer and make sure that J is the drive for you flash card when you connect it to PC, it may not be, I just used that as an example.

Right-Click the card's drive letter in Windows, click format, make sure FAT32 is selected, and then click start. This could not be any easier.

It worked! YEA! And not from the Rebel but from my Fuji camera.

I had copied and pasted from you reply. But thanks so much! Takings a pic and running a short video did the trick. I need to go back and learn how this would work too.

As above I'll have to go take a look at this method too. Thanks to you and all for the help!

Is anyone aware of the largest card that can be inserted into the Vette?
How much video can be saved?

Can it record every time the vehicle is driven and overwrite old video automatically?

Interested in knowing the answer to this too. Right now it's part of my routine each time I get into the car: turn on Rev-Match, go through the menu and delete older shorter videos and enable PDR recording, etc. Would be very nice to just start recording automatically!!

SD cards that are 32GB or smaller can be formatted to FAT32 on a newer PC but once the size goes over 32GB you need special software to do the formatting.

However, the simple solution is to just buy a pre formatted 32GB SD card and plug it in. Don't have to mess with the PC or a Camera. Just take it out of its wrapping and stick it into the PDR slot. I just walked into Best Buy and had a selection of several brands hanging on an end cap. Grabbed one, paid for it, cut the plastic covering off the card and stuck it into the PDR right in the parking lot.

I know a little about this (I wrote the Format dialog itself in Windows, but it as like 25 years ago). At the time the largest cards were CF and about 10M (not G) and I don't recall why there were limits on size, but if you are larger than the Format dialog will support FAT32 at (32G), try a third party tool like this:

https://fat32-format.en.softonic.com/

There are others as well.

If that fails, connect the card to a Commodore PET as shown below and do the format that way:

OMG! Windows 7? Seriously? Get off the computer/camera/etc & go buy a Fat 32 Class 10 SD card already. Sorry, some are making this so difficult. Just yanking some of your chains, however you want to go about it. Sometimes I get that way, can't stand not getting things to work.

Thanks to nvydvr all I had to do was pull out my camera and take a quick pic and video and worked! Seems to me this method is easier, cheaper and much quicker than having to go get in the car and drive down to buy another SD card.

But yea, I'm on an old Windows 7 computer that's 5 years old! Know what else? It still does everything I want or care to do. Thanks for the chain yank! Made my day...

I took the Microsoft deal to upgrade to my Windows 7 machine to Windows 8 Pro for $64 back in 2012 that took me through automatic updates to Win 10 Pro. Haven't regretted it yet. Liked 8 and 8.1 and really like Win 10 Pro. A lot of people didn't like the way the start menu worked in 8 but I never used the start menu in the previous versions. I had my apps on the bottom task bar and just went from there.

Sounds like 256gb is the highest confirmed we have. Sounds sufficient. How many hours of video do you think that saves?

Can you have it constantly recording? (Automatically every time you start the vehicle)

Gosh, I wish, but if that's possible I've never found in on the '15 other than Valet mode. Please tell if it is!

I start it manually each trip and never had to reset it in a year of driving around town.

BTW, skip Windows 8 by a wide berth but Windows 10 is good. As was Windows 7, but I recommend 10 now.

We should be good right up to about 4000G (2^32-1 bytes) on the cards before hitting any theoretical FAT32 limit, but it depends where GM got their open-source code to read FAT32, because they didn't write it themselves I'm sure.

Check the manual, it's got it covered. Limits power (but not much), locks the trunk, turns on the PDR when the car starts, and so on. They stopped recording audio in 2016 due to privacy concerns I think.
