Default Katech Ported Throttle Body - Install

About to do the install today, is it just a simple plug and play? Need to disconnect battery or anything? No CEL?

Thanks,
Mike

Installed mine a couple weeks ago. Maybe 10 minutes total time to install. No battery disconnect no CEL. And a nice noticeable difference in power delivery.

Can you take pictures or video of the install? It would benefit the forum!

Sorry guys, didn't see the comments before I did it. Literally the easiest install. Use a flathead screwdriver to take off the silver band holding the throttle body. And then a ratchet to remove the 4 screws. I'll try to post a picture tomorrow if I remember.

Also please share cost, supplier, and performance gain you experience. I've been looking at this mod for awhile and must have missed previous posts (if any) on the topic.

Thanks

Going to do the same mod next week when my aFe CAI comes in, doing both the throttle body & CAI change at the same time. I am using a Weapon X ported throttle body.

BigEasy,
How much is the Weapon X TB? I have the AFE CAI, AR headers and exhaust already and want to do a pulley swap and TB at the same time so we just have to retune it just once.
Thanks

$ 350.00, with a $ 150.00 core credit when you send back the original.

seems to have good reviews on the weapon X unit.

Just to add. Rachet and 10mm socket with extension work fine for the 2 top and lower right bolt, but I had to use a 10mm wrench for the lower left bolt due to clearance issues with the intake tube

I think most would agree that a CAI and stock ported TB are considered power-train warranty friendly mods, but ultimately that is up to GM.

As Doug Z06 says, it's a 10 minutes job. I would replace it with my stock tb before going to the dealer. Not sure about the intake but probably replace it too with the factory.

I would think as long as no tune has been installed we should be good on warranty.

Katech Ported Throttle body was 250$ after shipping. I can definitely feel a slightly increased throttle response. It doesn't get 100% get rid of the lag, but it's the best you're going to get without a tune and voiding your warranty. I would recommend it. Cheap mod.

Seems those with the M7 are the ones that complain the most about throttle hesitation.

For those interested in seeing the difference between a stock (first photo) and a Katech ported throttle, see below. I highly doubt a ported throttle body would have any affect on warranty. Since it's a 10 minute job you can always swap it out before going to the dealer if you have a concern.
