"finally tracked my 17 A8 this weekend in 70 degrees ambient. Took 8 hard laps to get to 253* Coolant and 297* oil temp. while manually shifting. I'm pleased with the improvement over my 15 model."
After upgrading from a 2016 to 2017 Z06 I experienced the same temps on both cars. Water 260, Oil 300. Unfortunately the 2017 may be the lemon tree because it not only overheated I got messages to service the power steering, service the differential and stability, engine light. The car is currently at the dealer with no compression in #1. Not sure what the problem is but should find out this week. Very disappointed.
Checked back with dealer today. Valve spring broke on number one. The cam beat the lifter roller and both the cam and roller were destroyed. Also the cylinder showed scoring for an unexplained reason. Dealer is ordering a new engine. With only 6,000 miles and two track sessions very disappointing. Hopefully it won't take too long to get the engine.
I posted a few weeks ago that I recently had my 17 Z06 A8 at a Trackdaze HPDE at VIR. My car went into limp mode in the second session with ambient temp around 70 from engine oil overheat. I started manual shifting the rest of the two day event but still had to go in early every session. Kept the car from going into limp but engine oil got near red every time.
