A good idea is to also swap out all of the factory fluids as it's been documented that they have been under-filled and in some cases have additional production additives. So in addition to the oil change, swap out the rear differential fluid and the transmission fluid if you have a M7.

After that, drive it like you stole it!

OKthen, your question if changing all the oils at 500 miles is a good idea, is like discussing religion and politics....lots of emotion with the enthusiasts on this Forum. If you're not into the "tracking usage", just enjoy the car and use for street pleasure, you really just need to have the 500 mile engine oil change and have the mechanic check all the other compartments to be sure oil levels are OK and that there's no problems. Except for the engine, the factory fills are designed to go the full cycle recommended by the owner's manual. Change them all early if you want, but unless tracking the car, that exercise is very likely a waste of money and time. It's easy to get over the edge with a Z06, but it really isn't necessary....Chevy didn't design this car and engine to be high strung with crazy, wild maintenance requirements. Good luck with it!

I do change the trans and diff fluid around 1000-1500 miles.

yeah Higgs, but your an old wrencher who loves to tinker with his cars....you undoubtedly changed those fluids yourself, in your garage! Wish I knew what you forgot about cars!!

thanks for that, I think I will just change oil and have them check all the fluid levels.

After you start up the car, you can feel the car shake a little bit this is normal right? I guess the engine is just so powerful. I can feel it shake a little after start it up or rev it a tiny bit during idle.

Shaking or vibrating a little bit on the motor mounts? That's pretty normal, you're probably not used to a 3500 pound car with 650 hp. I wouldn't worry, the engine won't come flying out of it. When you go into the garage for the 500 mile engine oil change (and make sure they use Mobil One....absolutely no substitutions) ask the mechanic to see if everything is tied down properly, if that would make you feel better. Don't worry about it, the Z06 is a relatively low maintenance machine when you get into the "supercar" world.

Ok manual says to regularly check engine oil level after the 1st oil change at 500 miles, to see if it's burning any oil. I got 2500 miles now and it's at about 1/3 above min level, when I had the 500 miles oil change it was at the exact middle. Is it burning any oil? or it's ok. I also checked the oil level 12 min after shutting off the car, maybe it will be at exact middle if I checked it at 5 min?

also just wondering is it half quart, one quart? from minimal to middle of the dip stick? and one guy said in general you want the level to be at the exact middle, if more than middle you should drain it out some, is that right

I run mine in the middle. Between low and full mark = 1 qt. I wouldn't mess with it if it is between the marks. Manual says to run is 1/2 qt over full for track days.

I think my engine is burning oil. Did oil change at 500 miles and checked oil level at 1408 miles, oil level was at dead center. then again at 2500 miles 1/3 from min. Today 3150 miles 1/5 from min. Checked manual and it said:

For the first 2 414 km (1,500 mi):
. Check engine oil with every
refueling and add if necessary.
Oil and fuel consumption may be
higher than normal.

But that's for the first 1500 miles, so is it normal that it's burning oil during the first few k of the engine's life or it's something serious? (I did a lot of low speed and high traffic driving on weekends, if that got something to do with it)
