Test drove a '17 today and found the ride rather harsh and was disappointed. I've had 7 corvettes, '01 my last, and I don't remember them being this harsh. I'd appreciate some comments.
Also, the color appeared to be the same as the '93 anniversary, (maroon?) but I didn't check. Would this be black rose?
You must have been on some really rough roads if the ride was harsh. Or maybe you're just getting older.
You know you might just be right. My last 2 cars were a Mercedes CL500 and my current Lexus LS460 which are mighty soft rides. I drove a Tesla recently and thought that was harsh. I'll be 75 in May. Maybe I'm just getting too old for this $hit.

my 15 z06 with z07 package rides 5 times better than any of my prior vettes. after you buy one and drive it for a few weeks i bet you will love it. you can set to touring and go stealth with the exhaust. these cars are just amazing. you can set to track if someone complains. that will quiet them up. lol

That's probably it right there.
Compared to those 2 a C7 will seem very stiff.
OTOH, nearly every real Sportscar will feel "stiff" to you.
There is a reason why racecars are so frickin' stiffly sprung.
Another thing is that the discounts are getting pretty wild. I'm in S. FL. and told the rep Kerbeck is at 15% off on MSRP. He said he got approval to match it. This was an $83K car. Never seen discounts down here like that.
The different driving modes really make a big change, my opinion in touring is very comfortable...my wife on the other hand thinks it rides like a truck! When its in sport or competition mode it feels like all four tires are made of cement...lol. All in all compared to other cars I think it rides great for what the car is capable of doing

What do you mean Senior Citizen? You aren't there yet!! I turned 75 in December and am still having fun. Twenty years from now we may be Senior Citizens but for now our Social Security payments are paying for new Corvettes. Since SS is a pay as you go type of program I always tell younger people they have to keep working so I can keep buying Corvettes.
I have the Z07 and sometimes the ride can be a little harsh if the pavement is rough but on the track it is smooth.
You might give it a little longer drive before you give up on the new C7 and give yourself a chance to adjust your expectations to the different ride compared to your recent vehicle choices. Although I am a little "less experienced" (56) I have taken some long trips in my 2016 Z06 and find it very comfortable in the tour setting even on less than perfect roads. But compared to a "floating" ride that you have grown used to in recent years you will certainly notice the difference. For me the increased driving fun makes me forget any little bumps in the pavement
In 2008 I bought a new Cadillac CTS when the second generation came out and there were soon a lot of dissatisfied owners who had also owned Cadillac vehicles in the past. The CTS ride, though smooth compared to a Corvette, was a lot different than most previous owners were accustomed to and many never accepted the trade-off for better handling. The sport setting for the magnetic ride shocks in my current ATS is about the same smoothness level as tour in my Z06 but except for really lousy roads the comfort level is fine and I don't care to have either vehicle on lousy roads as both have low profile performance tires.
I thought I read somewhere that, from a comfy-ride perspective, the base Stingray was the "softest" ride (w/o MSRC). The next up from there as far as slightly harsher ride was MSRC on the base suspension. I presume that most dealers don't get many (order) non-MSRC Stingrays for inventory. I could be wrong tho.

Boy, I'm surprised you would find the ride harsh in this car in Touring mode. Driving around in that Lexus probably influenced your feelings. I find this Z06 in Touring mode to be almost like a luxury car.
You want a harsh ride, try this:
This is probably why the new Z feels like a luxury car to me.

This ain't daddy's old corvette. The C6Z/ZR1 and C7/Z are basically race cars brought to the street. It might be time for a CTS V or an ATS V.

I have a 2017 Z06 and when I put it in touring mode, its noticeably smoother ... I do not find the ride harsh at all on smoother roads with the occasional hole here and there.
I would blame it on the tires! The run flats are like plastic. Also, some dealers leave the car on the last setting it was test driven on(track mode) and have speed bumps...this will cause a bent rim.
That being said...it really is an exciting ride. Most exciting I have ever owned, at least. When you lean on it and the dual mode opens up...its like the afterburners on a jet...blast off!
