I am in the same shoes as OP, thinking about trying my first HPDE in the Z06 (2nd HPDE for me)
So sounds like just leave everything stock but change the brake fluid, and engine oil to 15w50 and that's it.( I am a beginner I think I will just leave the alignment stock, what do you guys think?)
Stock brake pads will it last the 2 days? 2 days with a total of 8 sessions, 20 min per session. 7mm left in the fronts and 6mm in the rears.
Brake fluid how's TYP 200 the blue brake fluid? Decent price and good reviews I use it in my other car.
OEM tires MPSS, will they last few HPDE? one rear is 500 a piece kinda pricy! Last HPDE one vette guy had 18 rims and non stock tires. Yeah expensive sport indeed, will be more expensive if small accidents occurs man if that happens I will be in trouble heh.
(Got a focus ST, recently got hawk hp plus pads for an upcoming HPDE, will use them with stock rotors, so use 60 grit sandpaper on the rotors then bed the pads?)
I'd make sure the alignment is correct and that they make sure the rear caster is around +.7-.8. I'd also either change the brake pads or bring a set to the track and change them there. The last thing you want to do is run out of brakes.
Thanks for that, will just check pads as HPDE goes, should be no problem.
Engine oil temp should stay under what temp? How about other fluids.
If you go to a Chevy Dealership and get the new Mobil 1 Dexos2 ESP 0W40 oil that is the factory fill in the 2019s that will work on track and on the street. Just make sure they know you want the Dexos 2 0W40 it isn't the Mobil 1 European 0W40. Sometimes it takes a while for the parts department guys to figure out what you want. It does have a GM part number. Costs about $11 per quart and is currently only available through GM dealers.
