Default Zo6 ??????

So hello everyone, I"m new to the Corvette community but not the Chevy brand. I recently sold my 2010 2SS Camaro, and now I'm in the market for a new car. The issue is I really like the new ZL1 as its an amazing car, but i also like the C7 ZO6 Corvette. So im torn as to which vehicle to get. I have been researching for the last couple of months and i will be wanting to pull the trigger this time next year. I'm sure I'm not the only person who had this problem, so any information or reasoning you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!! Below is my former car

You cannot go wrong with either one. what will you be using it for? Daily? weekend? track?

For pure track, ZL1 1LE would be best option.

ZL1 is still new and might not be discounted like Z06. There is a high inventory of Z06's and sales dropped this last quarter so you should be getting a deal that would make the decision much easier. Z06 is a supercar.

There is a lengthy thread recently on this very subject. The gentleman who is VERY familiar with a Z06 has opted to buy a ZL1 1LE, so that should tell you something.

You are asking in the wrong place to get an unbiased opinion obviously.

One is a muscle car with a back seat, and the other is a sports car. Similar performance... If you're not in the market until next year, then the ZR1, or whatever it's called, should be available...

I'd like to read that thread. Can you provide a link to it or at least provide the poster's "name" so I can track it down? Thanks.

I drove both and ended up with a z06. Unless you need the back seat why add the extra weight. I also had a difficult time negotiating less than msrp on the zl1. Ordered a custom built z06 for not much more money and got exactly what I wanted. Good luck with your decision.

I don't believe he opted to make the move. He said that he was considering it.

If you have any track aspirations avoid the Z06 since it has its share of issues. If you just want to drive city streets either car would be fine but clearly over the top for a street car.

There's quite a few people facing this issue .. I know Ron/Vengenace opted for the ZL1 over the Vette and there have been others. In the end I think it comes down to styling tastes, money and intent with the vehicle. The performance of the ZL1 for the money make it the 'smarter' choice with the current iteration of the Z06.

Most people see a Camaro as a regular, joe shmoe car. Nothing special, those same people see a Z06 and automatically see an exotic car.

To be more accurate, avoid the A8 C7Z if you are a tracker. The M7 is a fine choice.

I think he was considering the move as he was looking, basically, to experience a new ride on his favorite tracks.

And on the track statement, the 2017 Z06 was tweaked to not have heat soak and of course, a manual is recommended. Where is the paranoia about tracking a M7 2017 z06 coming from? Facts people, facts lol..

I considered the new Camaro just based on cost and coming from a modded WS6 Trans Am but the style on the Z06 helped my decision. I'm glad I went with a Z06

, camaros are everywhere, vettes are much more "rare" if that matters to you. At least in my neck of the woods.

If you want an auto trans I'd go for the ZL1 with the new 10 speed. It supposedly won't fit in the C7, so it probably won't be available until the C8 arrives.

the difference is with that thread, the OP basically maxed out with his Z06...this thread would be a first timer with either car

as much as I love my Z, there isn't anything exotic about corvettes...

I would disagree. However the comparison was camaro vs c7 corvette and people's perception of the 2. spend 65-70k on a Camaro and most people assume its a plain 25-30k car. Nothing special. Sad but true.

The new c7's look very european, I can't tell you how many people do a double take and ask what is it. The C7 changed the game (I feel).
