Will the 2018 A8 ZO6 have the same overheating problems as the 15, 16, and 17's. I'm considering trading my 2015 for a 2018, I know there weren't many changes but I'm ready for a change. I've also had problems with the transmission in a delay in shifting from Park to drive. The dealer did correct this problem by doing a shift adapt relearn. Glad it wasn't

Wow it didn't take long before a thread on the '18s and OH came out! We only read yesterday that the 18s are just getting delivered this week, so time will tell soon.
Nobody knows yet.
But there weren't really any overheating problems on prior years, except when tracked under hot conditions. Not that there weren't a few reports of it happening on the street, but these had to do with something not being up to spec on that particular car.

Agree Overheating on the street does not occur IF your car is running per specs, coolant levels are correct per example.

Seems like that'd be a $20K to add front cameras and Carplay. I'd sure wait for some more kind of substantial upgrade before I ate that kind of depreciation. That's just me!
Does your 2015 actually overheat? Never heard of one doing it on the street or drag strip, only the road course. If you're a track rate, get an M7, year doesn't matter (much), but 2017 would be marginally better.

My 2017 got warm enough that timing advance was pulled at the drag strip. I got 4-5* of timing pulled due to heat and/or only running 93 octane. And this was with an ambient of 48-50 degrees. But with quite a lot of idling in the staging lanes.

How do you know 5* of timing was being pulled at 50 degrees fahrenheit? I can't find it on mine, thanks

I logged my pass with my HP Tuner. At around 119 mph I had even more than 5* pulled. Look at my MAT and coolant temp. right about the time I crossed the lights.
And with temps. under control and with Boostane here's what you get at same speeds. Was not on the drag strip so don't know what kind of time I could have ran.
My stock C5Z regularly saw knock retard at the track.
C (five) z... wow, they didn't care back then too. I still like them. Race cars should be striped out with just roll cages and all. It seems funny to see a loaded sports car racing but GM advertised it that way so...Even GT350's and earlier cars have had this problem. I guess the big car makers have lawyers on retainer, they don't care.
2017's already have some added cooling vs. 2015 and 2016. If its the cooling you are worried about, than either a 2017 or 2018 would be "better" than 2015 and 2016 but its anybodys guess as to whether you can hit the point it matters.
