What did you tell the dealer when you called for your appointment? Do you have the exact TSB number? Thanks!

Scroll back 1 page i attached the entire TSB. Did you get a cel or Reduced engine power code P0106? If not they may give you a hard time. I hope they do not as this should be a RECALL. Hopefully you have a Service Manager that is on your side.

What happened to everyone using the halltech cold air induction ? Is the BMS better? I got the Mamo Motorsports ported throttle body on its way. Tony said he is shipping it out on Monday. Im thinking I should get it today since I'm on in virginia. When do you lose your warranty on these cars? Is it 3 or 5 years? It will be 3 years for me this month.

Just to give you my .02 on the Halltech and Katech TB. My only data on these mods was at a track for a 1/2 mile event and this is not very scientific by any means. I ran the 1/2 before doing the intake mods and went back about 3 months later after making the change. Same tires, same track, little different weather (warmer by 20 degrees but still in the 80s) and I saw minimal gains in trap speed with the changes. Now these events don't give trap times or intervals at 1000', 1320' etc so I can't comment on those data points, but final trap speed was unchanged. I was running a stage 2 aero package on both runs.
Again, not scientific but I picked up minimal on the top end.

From your information.
Which was untimed. But since you were there and the weather was 20 some degree's warmer from 60's to 80's and you gained trap speed even though minimal what ever that is, shows you gained power.

I will let you be the judge if a average gain of .5-1mph at 153mph is a gain that can be attributed to the change in intake alone. I was skeptical but you have more enthusiasm for the Halltech than I do. I am not bashing it at all, but I wonder if the gains are more appreciable down low than at higher speeds. Just a thought.

You didnt go slower, it was hotter, and we have no data on what wind was like. Sounds like a win, imo.

Plenty of enthusiasm for a great product be my own judge since your guessing on what gains you made. Since I installed the Halltech and 7k later pulled 599-604 rwhp as my only mod.

Plus the gain from 1 .9 60 ft shows I'm running pretty good!

Apples to Oranges! A8 to M7
Now tell us about the difference in the slips. We both hit 104 in the 1/8
but your 60 ft was .33 quicker. Your had much better weather as well at a faster track! Misleading! It is all in the 60ft my friend. Shows the A8 advantage pretty sure my car pulls yours on any hiway run!
With out the 60ft you lose!

Default Whoa!!! there big fella.

Oh, I forgot to mention I was running the restrictive gray "Low Flow" dry air filter in the AFE housing (don't want to go to fast ) The track will throw you out if you hit 135 in the 1/4.

PS: As 'you' mention we both hit 104 in the 1/8 where any starting line advantage as far as MPH is over, then the 'A8' (AFE) proceeded to add a little more 'mph' to the end of the track.

Just think what my heavier car would of put down in MPH on the big end if it was making your 'DYNO' HP!

Summary: Less filter, more mph, heavier car.

IIRC GM original stats had the A8 beating the M7 in the 1/4 in both ET & MPH.

Wow, I’m totally confused. I thought this thread was about the TONY MAMO PTB and the BMS filter. WTF does that have to do with Halltec, aFe and Katech PTB’s. I would really like to know what the OP asked.

What are you needing to know?

I know the OP had mentioned some issues with knock retard etc.

However knock retard with a boosted combo sitting on the dyno in 120 degree ambient air (especially the C7 with the poor airflow management they have in stock trim) is going to happen with ZERO mods....seriously....you can bet that's the case.

The ported TB is an awesome upgrade.....hundreds of happy customers....both C7Z06 owners as well as ZL1 Camaro owners (both running the exact same platform).

If you have any specific questions for me feel free to PM or email me.....I offer a 30 day money back guarantee....I know if you install one your not going to want to send it back! Its just transforms the way the car drives on sooo many levels.....especially the case if your running a manual trans.

Regards,
Tony

We've sold a few hundred of our drop in filters now and they definitely just as well and in some cases better than the expensive airbox replacements in the 630whp and lower power levels. We've not done a lot of testing above those levels but I suspect it's still pretty competitive. The AFE and Haltech work great too though for cars that don't throw codes or run too lean with them, so live and let live on the intake (and TB) wars.

Has anyone ran their fuel system out of fuel (lost fuel pressure) with just one of these filters and a CAI and possibly catless headers?
