But less than the ACR!
Furthermore, the ZO7's aero slows the car about 12-14 MPH. And The ACR's massive aero slows it about 23 MPH, I believe.
Anyway, more questions could be forthcoming!

Can't judge by speed on the long straight, unless you also know wind direction and velocity.

Subaru WRX just did it in 6 somethin'!

Can't believe this thread still lives. This was done by Sport Auto a gazillion years ago.
Ring times are great for bench racers only because let's face it - 99% of us will never drive our cars at the ring.
As for me, I am about to hoon my car at local racetracks :-)

cool thing is you can easily pick up 50 wheel by desensitizing the sensors a bit and running a little better than 93 (dump 1 can of race fuel per tank fill it's like 29 bucks) not cause any damage and really knock the socks off of cars costing 5x as much. Yeah not stock but stock in almost every way other than a laptop and better gas not even opening the hood. Remember GM has to factor in the guy or girl that has no concept of what a car should and shouldn't be forced to so under what conditions (think of their conservative tune as being able to withstand towing uphill with 86 octane whole floored I'm 120f weather)... there's plenty in there to be sorted through if care is taken. Once these cars cone off warranty and people have them tuned they're gonna wonder why it wasn't like that from the factory (see above ^^^^lol).
impressive. To say the least.

Banned Scam/Spammer
Excellent, concise post. You get it.
It is amazing how some enthusiasts live and die by these "ring times". Some of the most exceptional keyboard racing champions here appear find it necessary to troll daily about ring times or even their absence. Hope they now have a metric that supports their vicarious approach to road racing.

Good point!? ;)
Anyway, it would be interesting to simply see the Viper's speed there.
And like LG said recently, "If the ZO6 is driven hard enough it is going to heat up". I contend it's fair to say we probably are seeing a little break down.

Point is COT protection in and off itself is not necessarily an indicator of pulled timing.
Many folks think COT is always a bad thing. In some cases by giving up a little power by decreasing the AFR slightly and keeping the knock sensors from knocking, timing is preserved by staving off the increase of cylinder temps. Thus in some cases COT can allow the engine to maintain higher power output for a longer period of time, As opposed to no COT and encountering knock and the resulting reduction of timing advance. (Not talking extreme stage 3 COT but stage 1 or perhaps stage 2 COT).

Melting Slicks
For clarity one should probably point out that particular WRX was not a production car. Pretty sure it is stripped interior and basically a track specific built car, AWD, etc. Not a street car and probably not street legal. So it's in a different class. Another question, how much did it cost? I suppose an F1 car will be faster than the WRX, but why would you compare them. There are electric cars that have done sub 7 sec too.

The only one that is really valid (IMO) is an ACTUAL car race.
THEN we can compare times, speeds, etc.

Any idea how long the guys with the ACR plan to be over there? Saw a small clip on bridge to gantry yesterday.

Looks like the ACR just crushed a lap time. 7:03
