By having non GM people run a non GM car, it also gives GM
deniability if it came to light that the car was a ringer(not saying it was, but playing devils advocate).

Why wouldn't GM be pleased with the run? They have their base's covered. They got a time posted but don't have to back it up.

It's a successful model, they've sold far more than they expected.
Cash for Corvette is being deployed elsewhere.
Ever since GMs debacle at the ring they turned their attention away from it.

At least the C6 Z06 and the C6 ZR1 were not ringers, or the new Camaro's, but were run by GM and verified by GM, not by outside of GM, individuals.
Did you even watch the video? The car clearly has Michigan manufacturer plates. How is the car not owned by GM?

But yeah, I guess you're right. It's a private owned car that's a ringer because GM didn't run the lap time...

"Debacle" at the Ring. Gotta love that one, the trolls are obviously still here and have chosen new talking points. Pure entertainment.

Who has decided not to purchase a Z06 because of anything that involves the "Ring"? I had an A8 Z06 and am looking to purchase an M7 and that's regardless of whether it does the almighty "Ring" in 8 minutes, 7:13 or 6:13, I could honestly care less like everyone else I know.

Good point. I didn't notice the tag. But if it was a GM owned vehicle, then why didn't they post up time and video like they did on the C6 Z06, the C6 ZR1 and the new Camaros?

Was the driver a GM employee? Was the person who set the car up a GM employee? Was the Z06 run done by GM? If not...why?

If everyone who touched that Z06 was a GM employee, than why make it look like it was not a GM run at the Ring.

I'll stand by my posting about possible GM deniability, as they didn't follow the same protocol as with the C6 Z06, the C6 ZR1 and the new Camaros. Why would GM hand over one of their cars to a non employee "friend" and thus could be held accountable if something went wrong and someone was injured or killed?

If I showed up at a race track when GM had a Z06 there, would they hand me the keys and say "do what you please with it"?

LOL, what is this "debacle at the ring" of which you speak?

Is it the 7:23 that GM got for your C6 Z?

Wow, 0:00 would make it the fastest car ever! Until someone manages to finish even before they start.

Yes, Chevrolet crashed one back in 2014.

Crashes at race tracks are not unusual. Didn't GM crash the new ZR1 and that's why there is still no time?

Anytime you push a car to the limits you take a chance on crashing it.

It's true some people, like you, could care less about The Ring but interestingly end up here posting anyway.
And of course some people do care!
But, I dare say nobody cares that youse ( 's) don't care!

Raining, and a green track....

Not good especially for the New ACR!
$50K more!
(Store the cars and try again in a couple of weeks!?)

It's interesting that the Viper Ring run was 10 seconds faster than the ZO6 time yet was 2kph slower than the ZO6 on the final straight. ZO6 did 285kph and the Viper ACR did 283kph. That wing is helping them more on corner speed than top speed. I thought for sure the Viper would have more top end.

That "thing" has got the same top end while producing 4-5 times the amount of downforce that the C7Z Z07 is producing. Yeah..Id say the wing is way more effective..

The greater the downforce, the less the top speed.
For example, Red Bull F1 Racing won 4 World Championships in a row with the slowest car on the straights.
How?
Their car had the most DF of any car on the grid.
They were so much faster thru the twisty stuff, their speed on the straights didn't matter so much.

I don't know how you got this, but, you're the man!!

The curve speed carrying Viper was 2 MPH off its top speed in probable wind encumbered by HUGE aero!

And!?!?

The ZO7 was 8-10 MPH off its top end with what seems a Mushy Throttle!?

We're moving forward today after all!

Well, the ACR topped out at 278kph and the ZO6 did 273kph right before Metzgesfeld so the wing is more effective up to a point where the ACR pretty much falls flat at 283kph on the final straight. I'm still thinking a ZO6 will do a 7:06 lap or there about. The ZR1 is going to definitely outrun the ACR though. Farnbacher said he thought there might be 5 seconds more that would put it right there with the 918. The ZR1 will beat both IMHO.
