Got my car back yesterday for the dreaded front bumper to fender paint defect where they installed a new factory painted front bumper fascia and while I was there, my dealers body shop got a contact at GM Bowling Green on the phone and confirmed, just like 16/C7Z has that the new designed vent fix is still not in place and this was as of yesterday July27th. To those of you seeing this issue, make sure you take your car in under warranty and get this documented! This way, when the fix is in place, you will get it taken care of. I'm wondering how long it will be though, because as of today, July 28th the Bowling Green Corvette plant is shut down for three months for some re-tooling.

Well that's a shame that means they've never probably addressed the issue and shaved down these events and are just going to deal with it by whoever shows up at the dealership and has issues?
the vents need to be shaved down on the edges so that they stop digging into the paint
a body guy who works at Hendrick Chevrolet and posts on here explained how he fixes all their z06 vent paint issues and that's what he came up with.
they would paint it and would just come back
he also said the new fenders, 2017 and on, have a tab or notch in the fender to allow the vent to move a little so it doesn't stay so stiff and expansion and contraction causes the paint to chip.
but I guess that's not helping either so back to shaving the vent since maybe we were all lied to and that there's no new style vent coming?
that was the latest from GM we were just waiting for the newly-designed vent what a shame

Hopefully once they re-open the assembly plant in October/November, the improved line build process will correct this. Hopefully the part/tab mold will also be corrected.

I took my car to the dealership and showed the Service Writer what was happening and he said to take it to the local body shop they use (they don't have their own). I drove over there and showed the body shop owner what was happening and we discussed what could be done and I mentioned I had Expel on the front part of the fender. They resolved the problem by pulling the vents and touching up the paint (black) and then reinstalling the vents. That was 5 months ago. So far so good. The body shop owner indicated he wouldn't want to repaint the fender since it is very difficult to get a black finish to match the rest of the car due to how it shows everything. The dealership covered this repair under the standard B2B warranty.

Dealership wasn't very helpful. Said they didn't want to paint my fender. They don't have their own body shop anyway. What are my options here? If somebody has a name or a phone number of a rep that can confirm the vent update is coming please reply or PM me. My car has less than 1,000 miles and chipping paint. This is lame.

I was told yesterday from my service advisor that GM is coming out with a clear plastic that will be put between the bumpers and the fenders. He said that GM is making this a service bulletin. I asked if this was also the procedure to correct the fenders vents and he didn't know so I'm waiting for that information now.

Melting Slicks
Maybe they should just put xpel on the bumper and fenders and wrap all the edges before they install them. Kinda crazy they can't make the paint stick correctly.
