Is the Z06 a legit Supercar?

If the Z06 was built in Maranello and had a prancing horse on the hood, how would the world view it then? I see it as a very nice sports car with super-car performance. It lacks the refinement in build quality to be a true super-car, but it has enough tech and performance sophistication built into it to compete with the worlds best. The best part is the dollar to performance ratio outclasses basically anything ever built. It could start a new class of car..."The Budget Supercar"

All of you that think the Corvette is a supercar continue to harp on the performance and nothing else. How about fit and finish..... Or lack thereof. Compare engine compartments. The Corvette is covered in plastic. Suspension is really outdated..... Leaf spring? Really cutting edge...... Compare transmissions.... Not even close..... It takes the entire package to be considered a supercar....... Not just big boobies.
Mcrider.... You wish you had the money to be a "cork sniffer" which you obviously don't. I don't either.... But I don't speak derrogitively about them. I know a number of seriously rich guys and most are regular Joe's away from their work. They just have a way different outlook on what's expensive than me. There are also real supercar owners that don't deserve them. That aren't close to being a car guy. Of course that can be said for some Corvette owners, too.

Chevy doesn't make a supercar....but does have a supercar killer if only looking at performance and bang for buck. That said, how cool is it that it can even be a serious discussion or contender? That alone is pretty impressive...

By calling a z06 a supercar is almost being disrespectful to the real supercars because they are supercars for a reason. The engineering, the history, the performance, the looks, the badge, the cost.
Our cars turn heads because it looks good. If you take a plain looking ferrari, or a ferrari that our z06's look better than, and line them up. You think people will still continue to look at our z's? They might, but they'll quickly shoot over to what appeals more. The ferrari. Something exotic.
Btw there is no such thing as "budget supercar". That contradicts itself.
That's like saying, "hey meet my beautiful faithful escort girlfriend".

It is sour news to most owners because sometimes i feel like they really preach to people they know (although probably not in public because of embarrassment lol), about how their Z is really a supercar.
The only thing our cars have is supercar performance with some supercar looks. Everything else really isn't.
This is just as funny as a time back in the day when i was literally standing next to a kid and his dad at a car meet and he was really telling his dad how they called his toyota 86 a "baby lexus LFA". He was really preaching to him like it was the truth. And in my mind i'm like dude your car isn't even .000000001% of a real lexus LFA.

If I was uber rich, I would be RACING and for me it's about performance. You seem enthralled with little everything other than the real deal and that's the how fast it runs. I have no use for "pretty boys and their pretty cars", never have, don't impress me. I grew up turning wrenches and have built a number of my own bikes, and cars before that.
Again....if the ZR1 breaks 7 minutes in the "ring, is it a supercar, or does it have too much plastic and an outdated suspension for you?

You seem to have forgotten I own a Z06.I really like the car for what it is but I don't pretend to own something it isn't.
Now I'm off to Daytona for Jeep Beach in this.

Ignorance is bliss..... I just spent a week down around St. Barth's and St. Martin on a little trip. We had our personal, dedicated butler and maid. It's something I could certainly get the hang of, just like I've gotten the hang of retirement. We happened to be anchored next to a real rich cat. His ship is named Eclipse. You might want to Google it. We came across him (Roman Abramovich) while wandering around town. He had a couple of ex-seal type guys shadowing him. You can have your 'real deal". I'd take the good life and still have what ever your real deal life is.

So I am supposed to be impressed? Better find another street corner to preach on...

^^^^not trying to impress..... You remind me of friends that hate things they haven't ever tried or experienced and continually seem to be offended by it. If you are satisfied with your life, great. You have a good one. Low tide is around noon so I'm heading to the beach.

I think the word 'supercar' was invented by the same guy who invented 'assault rifle'. LOL
If you have several hundred thou to millions to spend on some wheels, by all means, buy the car that will impress everyone at your country club.
The rest of you, drive your American Sports Car over and come have a beer.
In the end, I hope you bought a car because you love it.

That jeep doesn't look like it's seen much dirt either. See you're in it for the Flash and that's okay!! but just because it wasn't designed by pininfarina doesn't make it any less amazing. From what I gather, to you , supercar is more important due to exclusivity, cost, luxury. To me its looks and performance.
You sound like a poorly informed car journalist when you criticize the Z06 for running a mono spring, did you forget that our ZO6 was barely beat by Fords supercar and beat the Viper ACR at vir and the new ZR1 beat the Ford GT handily.

I always get a kick out of you self annointed superior intellectuals. You always know whats in someone else's best interest, they just aren't smart enough to know what you do....lol....enjoy the beach...

It's a plastic car with orange peal paint (new shop is allegedly better) and body panels that don't line up for ****. The Z06 is an awesome car for what it is however, there are several reasons it's not an exotic, rare, high quality supercar. Frankly, I'm GLAD it's not a supercar....if it was, I probably wouldn't have one in my garage as I'm not a "corksniffer" and couldn't afford to be one. Just an average Joe that loves my "Super Chevy".

My 17 turned out pretty well that way. Go to some of the "exotic" car forums, and check out all the complaints owners have about things like these. Mechanical and electrical problems too.
