I was about to pull the trigger and buy a controller, but a friend of mine told he had to send three of them back, and he suggested I go with the GM upgrade. Has anybody else had issues with their DSC controller ?
i don't even have trouble with the wifi. I wouldn't recommend wasting your time on GM"upgrades." still a factory compromise, will never get around that.
If you plan on ever using updates to firmware and software and/or using the logging function then plan on procuring and installing a usb to mini usb cable.
You can either run the cable into the engine compartment, into the cabin or just use it directly on the unit by going back into the fender well to access the mini usb port.
I've had my DSC controller mine for 13 months now with no problems at all - it's a great addition to the car!!
A few months ago they had to add a "power supply" to the controller for I think the Camaro. The power supply was causing issues, but they have sourced a different one and the problem is all solved.
I would talk with Bish about getting his - the early one's like his and mine are good units. And I bet he'll give you a really great deal!!!
BTW - the GM upgrade is a one-time change of a few things in the OE controller.
The DSC controller can be changed any time DSC comes up with a better set of parameters for their ride control calibration files or if they come up with new firmware, or you can easily change a few things yourself in the tune to set it up for your car or driving style - something totally unable to be done with the GM controller.
I highly recommend the DSC controller rather than going for a one-time GM update that you can't do anything to after it's installed.

Reason: added BTW
I have one in perfect condition for sale that I pulled out of my 2015 prior to trading. PM me if interested.

Why did you remove yours? I pulled mine from my 2015 Z and have yet to install it in my new 2018. If there's a good reason not to install it maybe I'll sell mine too.

As Bish stated in his post he's selling as he no longer owns a C7Z. He bought a Merc GT and as such pulled it from the car and reinstalled the OEM box. Pulled to recoup his money. He is a big fan of the controller.
That's one of the great things about the DSC controller. It's not a consumable item so when you move on to a different car you can recover a substantial amount of the initial outlay by pulling and selling.

The only reason I’m selling it is because it doesn’t fit in this:
