I have a 2016 Z06 A8. Seems to operate fine in normal driving, however:
When driving, say at 60mph, I’d I accelerate reasoanble hard it downshifts to 3rd or 4th, but when I then let off and resume a steady cruise speed of say, 40 or 50, it does not upshift to say 5th or 6th. It stays locked in 3rd or 4th umrilmI almost come to a stop or very slow speed.
It's probably going in performance mode. When I punch mine it goes into performance mode and if I let out and cruze after a minute or 2 it goes back to normal. Seems like i get an on screen message that says "performance mode" but I'd have to confirm that. I'd say what your experiencing is normal.

Is this normal ?
Yes. You've invoked "Performance Shift Mode" and that's normal. It'll stay in that mode a few moments to see if you're really done driving aggressively or not.
Thanks for the explanations. Next time I will continue after it enters the "Performance Shift Mode" to see how long it takes to revert to the "normal" trans operation.

It will revert back pretty quick. 5-10 seconds is what I usually see. Quicker if I’m coasting or slowing to a stop.
you can learn a lot by playing with the throttle. Try going 60 mph, give quick stab/let off to the throttle. It will downshift to the lowest gear without redline and hold for about 4 seconds before it upshifts. Good for roll racing!.
If you hold the upshift paddle when it is holding the lower gear it will bump up to the appropriate cruising gear. Great trick if you don't want to wait for the computer to understand you are done playing.
Also if you want to drop to the lowest gear available at a certain speed you hold the left paddle; it will drop straight to that gear. Note the trans will also go into manual mode so you will have to upshift.
On a side note, they need to give PSM a button that can be activated. If not a button, make it a standalone option in the settings to go along with steering weight and exhaust valve adjustment. I am not a fan at all of the way it is currently.
They allow you to save tone settings to favorites, but not vehicle settings. It's a bug (limitation) of the software. They could "fix" it by being orthogonal and allowing you to save vehicle settings just like audio and nav stuff.
