Extended warranty thoughts
My 2015 M7 Z has 9,000 miles and is now out of bumper to bumper. I do track it and have never had an issue or problem of any kind with the car. Love it. However I plan to likely keep it till C8 mid engine arrives (likely 2-3 years). Dennis Fichtner shot me a good price of $2,872 for 36 months 36,000 miles with $100 deductible. Purpose of my post is to convince myself to do it. Looking at problem areas that some unlucky drivers have experienced the following have occurred: fuel pump, water pump, transmission, differential, power steering, supercharger, mag shock failure. Have a feeling any of these issues could easily be a $1,000-2,000 hit. Any of you guys have real world cost approximations on these areas? Of the 7 areas I listed would the original powertrain 5 year 100,000 mile factory warranty already cover them anyway? Thanks in advance.

I think most of the big items that will sideline you are covered on powertrain warranty or emissions warranty. If your infotainment screen goes out for instance, that's not a big deal. You can still drive and track the car anywhere you want and dig into that on the side during a slow weekend.
Just my take. Id skip the extra warranty.

Make sure you read the exclusions and what's covered. I bought a ten year extended on mine which is totally unlike me but felt I got a decent deal ($3k) on the "Ultimate" version.
That "Ultimate" version covers things like ECMs and GPS and LCDs and stereo and electronics and eDiff, whereas anything below "The Ultimate" excluded most stuff I was worried about.
Long story short, if one major component fails in 10 years it pays for itself. Otherwise it was a waste.

My Harley Davidson extended warranty turned out pretty well. Not much of, "Oh sorry, it turns out that's not covered". Not all extended warranties turn out that well.

The GM plans are pretty good because they list what isn't covered Vs what is. That lets you understand your coverage a lot better than a long list of things that are covered. For people with low miles the best deal is to get as many months as you can. I usually shoot for the 84 month at around 56K additional miles from the time I buy the plan. Dennis provided a no deductible GMPP plan like that about 20 days before the B2B on my C6Z expired. The total cost averaged about one minor repair per year for the next 7 years which is just about average across all cars. Considering that I had two Nav system failures, a dry sump o ring failure (which GMPP covered after I called about their initial refusal) and the replacement of the fuel sender in the passenger side gas tank I came out way ahead just on parts cost alone. I plan on going with a no deductible 84 mo 56K mile plan just before the B2B expires on my 15 at the end of November.
