Anyone had their intercooler pump die? Mine seems to come on and off intermittently vs always running even with car on
your tank is low and /or there is an air pocket causing the pump to run intermittently. You need to have the pump and system bled and filled. The dealer has a procedure for this. Mine was doing this , the ecm does something to cut power and shut the pump off. My car ran like a 1984 firebird with a v6 when the pump would cavitate.

Are you a little happier now with "Miss Piggy" since you got her fixed?
Ive got an expansion tank. Can i just open tank and let it run?
yes. If the tank is flowing you don’t have air in the lower tank and it’s full. It’s called gravity. Water runs down hill. I know because I have an expansion tank

it is running intermittently. And when stops running pump makes a whining noise. No fluid moving from expansion tank

yes “Miss Piggy” is running better with that issue corrected. The intercooler tank was 1/3rd low.
Right now the windshield washer tank started leaking. Need to get her in and get that tank replaced. A few other forum members have had this problem and sent me a tsb on the fix.
It's not as simple as your intercooler liquid temp is low enough in the exchanger that pumping isn't required at the moment?
I doubt, it, as the computer has no input to know the temp of the intercooler circuit fluid, so far as I know. Coincidentally, I seem to recall the pump itself having a bunch of unused features like PWM and maybe temp sensing!

im manually turning it at drag strip after passes to cool it down
In the case of “miss piggy” my z06. The car runs out of power. I would stand on it in 1st and 2nd gear and it would seem to run ok. Then I guess the pump would suck an air pocket, something would get tripped in the ecm and in 3rd/4th gear it accelerated like a 1984 v6 firebird. After the bleed procedure it seems to not intermittently pull power and the car is closer to my expectation.
I think this is an Achilles heal of the many systems on this car especially if your a track guy(which I am not). You’ll have to keep an eye out on this, and learn how to fill and bleed the system yourself or get an aftermarket tank which a vendor here makes. Looks to be an easy install and it’s not under pressure like the regular cooling system make it easier to deal with.

i was losing 8mph yesterday but DA over 3000 and 95 degrees. My expansion tank was so hot i couldnt touch it. So im sure all the timing being pulled.

are you referring to the cooling system expansion tank up on top by the sump where you fill the oil or the intercooler tank down in the well. in front of the the tire on the passenger side of the car? The intercooler tank is towards the front.
here is a thread on this topic, with pics. And there is a link somewhere in here with the aftermarket tank a vendor is making. It shows a demo of how the pump cavitates and when it does the pump shuts down for 180 seconds. You’ll have to dig around in the thread for that other link from the vendor with the demo of their tank.
I've got a temperature sending unit in my intercooler expansion tank which allows me to monitor the temperature of the coolant. It really helps knowing what the temperature is at the track when icing down the coolant. I also have wired up a switch so I can run the pump with the motor and ignition off.

if you have the aftermarket tank then you are ahead of the game. Looks like it’s just running hot due to severe duty and pulling some timing / speed. Nonetheless I am sure it’s plenty faster then anything else on the track. Except another c7z06 on its first or 2nd lap.
