2015 vs 2016 Z06
Im trying to decide what year to buy in a C7 Z06. I've been trying to figure out the differences between a '15 and a '16 Z06. Can you guys help put some light on that for me please? Is there any real benefit to having a '16 over a 15? Are there any more performance or electronic gadgets that one has that the other does not? Would one handle better then the other? Would still want it to work with my Android phone for sure lol. Thanks for the info in advance!

'17 is where you get the most updates. Intercooler bricks + larger supercharger lid + M7 get's secondary radiator standard. I went from a 15 to 17 and really noticed a lot of nice little upgrades such as front cameras (think you get those in '16 model year), real power latch (no more slamming the lift gate down), radio updates, different aero (3/4 side skirts even though I still have my c7 carbon full carbon ones, still kind of like the 3/4). If you are stuck between 15 and 16 I would just go with the better deal (options, miles, condition).

Front cameras are very helpful when pulling into a parking spot that has parking curbs/blocks. Can keep you from damaging/ruining a $2K front splitter. If you plan on tracking the car then look at 17s or newer. Warranty change was not a big deal, it is a difference that isn't a difference. Power train warranty went from 5 years /100K to 5 years/60 or 65K. For the vast majority of Corvette owners the car will be well past 5 years old before it gets to 60K miles. Given an average of 4000 to 5000 miles per year most will hit the 60K mark when they are 12 years old more than double the 5 year limit.

Wow, thanks guys, that front camera sounds like a heck of a good accessory. The power latch would be nice as well. I'm thinking for my price range, a '15 or '16 is what is I will be looking for although that extra raidator on the M7 for '17 would be nice. So far it seems like I'm leaning towards a '16 now.... Is that data recordor and the front camera only available on the 3LZ?

I just hope the C8 makes it's debut already because i'll probably be dropping this car for that, i'm sure well....WELL under the 60k warranty limit. Well i hope the C8 is out by 2021 lol
And my Z has the power rear latch. So it is available on 16 models.

Lots of great information guys! The one I found is a '15 closer to my price range but I really like the '16 because of the cameras and that power hatch does seem a little more refined....

You can add a front camera on a 2015 with a device called NavTool. I believe the total cost is in the $400 range. Many of us installed it ourselves. From a functionality standpoint, it is the same as the factory unit which was added in 2016. It has only one camera, but this is no big deal. You can even add side cameras and "screen mirroring" with your Android phone. If the 2016 is a better deal, you might want to consider this.

Is there a place I can go online that will decode these late model VIN numbers other then going to the dealership? So I can check the options on the cars I'm looking at based on the VIN?
