Default Engine Start/Stop button won’t work

Today I received a new transmitter for my z06 since I only received one initially. I began to program the transmitter per the owners manual and on this forum and it didn’t seem to get past the step of saying ready for activation.

From this point forward, my good transmitter will unlock/lock the car, open the hatch, remote start the car but the start/stop button on the dash won’t do anything. The wording will illuminate but won’t allow the vehicle to actually start. It won’t even shut the car off after I remote start, I have to turn off from the remote.

I tried to to reprogram the remotes and nothing happens. The radio won’t even turn off when I lock the car.

Im at a loss... any suggestions?

Thanks

Not sure but believe I've seen posts about "gremlins" after doing this. First, where did you get the 2nd remote from? Other posts said they must be for your very exact car. Verts have a different remote, manuals versus autos, etc. If you got it off a secondary website like Amazon/Ebay, you might have wrong version which is screwing your settings up. Someone else will chime in with clearer instructions I hope (I've never re-programed one). Good luck!

Do this, I just typed in the search bar at top right of page next to Threads "reprograming RKE". Whole bunch of helpful info there.

Not saying for sure but I'd check into EXACTLY the P/N for your particular car. Dealerships definitely make mistakes sometimes when ordering parts not being aware multiple parts for a run of cars (C7s). I know they'll probably want to charge you if they reprogram the new RKE but ask them & maybe you'll get lucky. Let us know the outcome-thanks & good luck.

Thanks. I checked and I do have the right part number for my Z06 A8 Coupe with Remote Start. This morning I re-tried the key and I held the start/stop button and also held the motion sensor button as indicated in other threads. Now the original key works! But.... Cluster says "Service Theft Deterrent System". I may just bring the car with both key fobs to the dealership. I was going to have them do the Transmission flush mentioned on here anyway so I'll let them sort it out. It's a 2017 so warranty will cover it. I was hoping to do it myself but this seems it could get confusing now with the Service message. Appreciate the replies!
