It getting louder when you hit the gas is true, i know this. I am speaking of when you have the exhaust in trackmode it doesnt stay loud the whole time, it goes to quiet mode if your just cruising on the highway, that is why I got the m2w switch. To keep it loud when i wanted and vice versa
Yeah I haven't experienced that. It's still loud for me when I'm cruising in track mode. I have, on occasion, turned it to touring mode when I'm on a longer drive with the cruise set so it will not be so loud. And I don't mean it just gets louder because of exhaust output at WOT, I mean the valves actually open. I can hear the difference. Maybe it's a difference between a manual and auto (if you have an auto). Ionno

This isn't what the OP was asking about, but If you want it loud all the time, you can simply pull the fuse that powers the closing of the dampers.
This is just dead wrong. I have my exhaust linked to my drive mode. I like it in track mode, but usually drive around in sport mode for the following reason: If I turn my car off in track mode, when I start it back up, it's in touring mode and since my exhaust is linked to my driving mode (default behavior, no need to change anything - OP), it starts in stealth mode and i don't get that awesome growl when it starts. If you start the car in touring, weather, or eco, it's going to start in quiet/stealth mode. There's no starting loud and then going quiet.
Absolutely not!! Maybe 15-16 M7 are different, but regardless of the mode, its start open then shut off right after!! 100% sure!!
Put the car in tour or economy mode before you shut it off. Or if you forget, get in the car and put the car in accessory mode (hold start button down) and the dash will light up and you can switch to tour or economy mode that way then start the car normally from there.
That's not true on my 2018 M7 Z06. I just went out & verified this but I can only speak to how a 2018 Z06 operates. Though I would imagine they would all be the same. I should add that I when I initially set up the car I left my exhaust sound setting on the default option in the menu (i.e. exhaust tied to driving mode selector).
I shut my car off in 'sport' mode the last time I drove it = Valves were open when I went out a few minutes ago (visually verified)
I held the start button for 5 seconds to put it into 'service mode' (i.e. not accessory mode). This allowed me to change the driving mode without starting the car.
I rotated the mode selection **** from 'sport' over to 'tour' mode = I heard the valves close & then I got out & visually confirmed the exhaust tip valves were closed.
I then started the car = It started quietly & I then got back out & verified that the valves were still closed (the car is currently idling in the driveway as I write this)

Above is my response to you from 2 days ago (post # 22) when you made the same claim. Those are the steps I went through to verify that my car does start with the valves closed in touring mode (I verified it with my own eyes). My car starts quietly & remains idling quietly in touring mode. If I turn the **** to sport it starts loudly & idles loudly. I don't see any reason why GM would change the way things work on the cars depending on the year.
1. If your car doesn't work this way then I think there is something odd with your car.
or
2. Maybe you don't have your exhaust sound tied to the driving mode (i.e. the default setting in the menu).

You are correct. My 2017 starts in whatever mode you left it in. Since around town I'm most always in touring mode the car starts quietly. If I stop in sport, track etc it starts loud.

You are all way nicer than I am. I'd make damn sure it always started in Track mode if I had a neighbor that cared enough to complain over a stock car with stock exhaust during 'normal' daylight hours.

Yeah but the OP's HOA sounds like a royal pain in the ***. It seems in his neighborhood the HOA will fine you if they don't like the way you parted your hair in the morning. It's absurd.

Yeah if he's gonna get a fine, it's not about being nice. It's about avoiding fines. I loathe HOAs (despite being on the board of mine) for these kinds of reasons, but this thread isn't about knocking them or trying to get around it. We're trying to advise on how he can get a Z06 and keep his exhaust quiet to comply with his HOA's CC&R
I have headers and no cats on mine with a stroked 416. I park it in touring mode and it’s fine when I start it in the morning. Driving it around in touring even with my setup you’d hardly notice just putt’n through the neighborhood.

I live in a townhouse complex and I start mine on sport mide, basically cause I forget 99.9% of the time, but most of my neighbors are in the military and haven’t heard a complaint yet.
In on this video I switched to stealth mode around the 1:05 min mark and back to sport 7-10 secs later.

I've certainly seen that the car can go to stealth mode, Im just wondering if it will start with the valves open and quickly shut to closed or will 100% stay closed even from cranking. Im sure many other neighborhoods may not complain about noise but I assure you all that mine will. The way my alley is designed, my garage door is maybe 25 yards from the side of someone's house. With all the other houses around me being close and the neighbors being D-bags, Im 100% sure that I will **** people off even during "normal hours" or if the vehicle is stock.

I don't think there is anything more that can be said about this. A number of posters, including myself, have posted repeatedly above that the car starts quietly in stealth or tour mode. The difference in the starting volume between stealth/touring & sport, for example, is very noticeable (there is no mistaking the different volume levels). We have even explained how you can easily switch the car into a quiet mode, prior to starting the car, if you accidentally left it on one of the louder settings when you shut the car off the last time/night before (all without needing to waste money on extra gadgets etc..). But it's almost as if you choose to ignore or not believe all of us who have assured you this is the case. Perhaps you should just forget about a Corvette & buy a Prius so you can be assured that there won't be any exhaust sound which will annoy your wonderful neighbors.
What's that old saying - You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. Good luck.

I always start my car at home in the quiet mode, not because I think my neighbors will complain, but because I actually enjoy being courteous to them. Don't usually mow my lawn before 9 am either.
As the person above affirmed, it's easy as can be without modifying the car in any way.

What's this "courteous" you speak of? Must be a long lost value in today's society. Thanks for trying to keep it alive.

And i've also seen multiple posters say something in contradiction. No need to be sarcastic. I have read the proposals and I'll certainly check them out before I buy so chill.
My response was not to you and not about modules. It was about the need for effort to not annoy my neighbors.
Whats the old saying? This is an A and B conversation so C your way out.
