Default Upper pulley options?

Hey guys, I currently have the Cordes 2.3 griptek upper pulley. I just saw a FB post from a buddy that mentioned a 2.175 upper pulley from Kong? Has anyone gone smaller than the 2.3 upper pulley with a stock crank pulley? At what point is it too small and starts slipping? Thoughts. Thanks!

Given the better belt wrap with the LT4, combined with the Griptec coating, we have not had any issues with belt slip on these 2.175 pulleys.

I did a lot of reading on pulleys last night, and read comments from several shops stating there was no belt slippage problems with the 2.1 upper.

Thanks Greg. I don't want to press another pulley on my blower since it involves removing the snout. I've heard that the snout needs to be machined down to make the smaller pulley fit? Can you please elaborate. Plus, will I need a different belt? I already have the Gates 080855HD belt. What kind of power difference do you see from the 2.3 to the 2.175 upper pulley?

Hey John, Hope this helps:
*Directions for install are on post #11 of this thread, for the CPR 2.17" Pulley:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-released.html
(There is no mention of machining the snout in the install instructions).
*The belt part number is listed as: belt part number too 25-080855HD (same)
*CPR states later in the thread "boost levels we are seeing the same as an 18% lower so i'm confident it's in the same area blower rpm wise".

I appreciate the reply, but these install instructions are for the 2.3 upper pulley. Joe Cordes just replied to an email telling me that the snout has to be turned down to get the 2.175 to fit. No idea how much material or how difficult that is to do. He did say that I didn't have to press on another hub since I've already done this.

Thanks Joe. What is Z Industries? Do we know if the Kong 2.175 upper pulley will clear?

The Kong 2.175 does not require machining to clear the snout.

Cool, thanks Greg. What kind of boost and power difference do you expect from the 2.3 to 2.175? Maybe one more pound of boost?

Greg, will I be able to purchase just the pulley since I already have the Cordes hub pressed on my LT4? Your website says that machining isn't necessary if I purchase your pulley and hub but it says that some machining might be necessary if I only purchase the 2.175 pulley? Please advise. Thanks man!
