Costco won't install Z07 tires

They are a pain to get off and on after that they won't air up. My discount tire store took 2 hours on the first tire they ever mounted. Guy who now manages discount tire at Athens figured it out. I had his store mount my AS3s no problem at all great service my rims were bent warped bought new ZR1 rims they dismounted and installed the new rims made Hugh difference in car. So yeah you need a store that knows what they are doing 1500 as3s 1800 for Michilin Z06 tires cup 2s I did not price.

For those that are interested, I understand that Costco has a policy against installing tires on Corvettes. The guys at my local Costco informed me of this when I brought my '96 in for new tires. Apparently they have had too many problems with getting the cars on the lift and subsequent complaints of damage related to that to make it worth it for them. My local store is however more than willing to do it if I take the tires off the car and bring them in on the rims. Now I tend to agree with some of the other posts above about having an experienced tire shop do these things, but I am fortunate that one of the guys that works at my Costco is a GM certified technician that worked on a lot of Corvettes. He took quite good care of me and I will only have him do my tires in the future. The tire pressure sensors for my '96 have long since been discontinued, so I am very cautious on who I allow to do my tires. When my Z06 needs new tires, I will likely just pop the rims off and go back. I hope that this helps!

For anybody in the Raleigh, NC area. Atlantic Ave. Tire does a great job. They've done 3 sets for me so far, 2 sets of cup 2's and 1 set of As3's, and they are very careful about scratching rims. I have 3 sets of rims so I always carry the rims to them to have them mounted.

Both of my local Costco stores have indicated they will install tires on my Z06. However the problem is that they do not sell the rear AS3 ZP for a C7 Z06. They do however sell the MPSS and Cup2 tires, front and rear. They did a good job putting new tires on my previous C5, but I know that's a cakewalk compared to the Z.

I have found that Discount tire is the best. I've had Corvette and Cadillac ZP tires for both cars and they beat everyone hands down. including buying from Tire Rack and the free shipping. I have two corvettes and A Cadillac V. I wont even try anyone else. They road force balance and are very careful with our expensive rims.

Be careful trusting Discount tire across the board. That's just not a good rule. Some stores are awesome and some tear beads and scratch up rims. You can't trust dealers across the board either. It depends on the skill of the person doing it and the machine they are using.

I will probably need tires sometime this summer. I normally go to Costco for regular cars (they even did my C4 ZR-1) but I am guessing they won't do the C7 due to reasons noted above. So I have been talking with my local BMW dealer about doing tires. Not as crazy as it sounds. They regularly deal with very large wheels and low profile tires from all the M Cars and M SUVs. They have the newest Hunter tire busting equipment as well as a new Road Force balancer. They would be willing to get the tires from Tire Rack at their price or for less if they can. And it helps that I used to work there so I know a lot of the people who would do the work. The only concern I have is how well they can lift the car without damaging the side skirts or other body parts. I have been assured that they can do it without issues but would probably watch while they did it anyway. Just a thought for those who are concerned about using the local tire shop. --Bob

Agree...If anyone is in the Northern VA rea, I highly recommend Mach V or Craftsman Autocare in Chantilly. The list of recommended installers on the Tireracks website for my area are a joke.

I am getting close to New tires as well for my Z06/Z07. I will be staying with cups all the way...love them and no issues with rain traction. I think I will find best price and then have my dealer match and do the removal and re mount. If outside vendor chips ceramic rotor...I will never know if not standing over them. At least I have relationship with my dealer and vette mechanic and if issues arise...I have extended warranty in force along with road hazard policy. Takes middle man and pass the buck excuses out of the mix.
