The new C8 is almost here. We have seen photos of the new edition. Want to see the opinions of the new design from Z06 owners. Many will buy to have the latest and greatest. The C7 is a gorgeous design. Overall is the C8 a step up or down? I

It personal opinion.
At this point, I like the looks of the C7 better.
"better" that what? a car wrapped in camouflage. Not saying you still won't like the C7 better you may very well like the C7 better than the C8, but you haven't even seen the C8 without being wrapped or what people have put on line of what they "think" the car will look like.
Since the C8 wont be fully revealed until July in New York, it will be interesting to see what Tadge and company bring to reveal at the NCM bash in Bowling Green in a couple of weeks.
The question was about style, not if it was a base vs a Z version. Of course a base version with 200 less HP is a step down, but based on style it's not a step down, it's just different, which is what I stated.

Agree, definitely excited to see what the future has in store. Took a few years for the c7 to grow on me too.
I think allot of it comes down to whether or not you like a mid engine design car. I, myself, do not. I know that the Italians have perfected the weight distribution and cornering abilities that go along with the mid engine design, but I've been in a mid engine car, and to me it just feels, wrong.
The corvette has always been the quintessential American muscle car. Sitting way back, big hood in front of you, big engine underneath. You know that cornering is going to be dicey, but man, those straightaways are fun.
This seems like less of a C1 - C7 redesign, and more of a "back to the drawing board" approach.
I'm sure it will perform great, and lots of people will like the Italian look, but I'm a little concerned that the C8 Vettes won't look, or feel, like Vettes anymore. The possible lack of a manual option is a little depressing, too.
Step down looks wise even though it is only camo. The car is going the route of EXOTICS and I do not like the looks of exotic ME cars. Only my opinion that's .
I just prefer the long hood short rear deck and classic lines of the C7 better than the mid engine euro exotic shape of the C8. I'm sure the C8 will be an fantastic car but I wanted a Corvette - not an Acura NSX.
Hard to say if I'm going to want it since I haven't seen it and don't know what it drives like. If it looks good, drives good, has room for my golf clubs and comes out in a Vert will consider getting one.in a couple of years when the Vert/Z is out. If all I wanted was mid engine I could have bought a Boxster or Cayman. I don't want a Porsche....I want a Corvette and if the C8 is a true Vette will be on my radar but lots of questions to answer before I trade in.a car that I currently really like a lot. Will also have to consider if they will make a 4 wheel drive hybrid because that is something that I think this car needs to get to the next level. Can't get the power to the ground with 2 wheel drive and it can get hairy when you push it! 4 Wheel drive is really needed for 600+ HP IMO.
