Default Performance Data Recording Question

Hello Everyone,

I've driven my car a few times and now I'm ready to start using some of the options. In the manual it says I need a FAT32 formatted SD card, Class 10 required disk for my PDR? If I go to Best Buy and purchase an SD card that is 32 GB or less will it just work or do I need to actually format the disk first? The next question is why don't you get a $10 disk when you buy a 100k car? Lol... Anyway, thanks for your help!

All that you need is a decent 32 GB card no formatting needed. If you get a larger card it needs to be formatted. 32 GB handles a lot of video. I don't see a need for a larger card.

I think another question could also be posed as to why only 720p resolution on a '$100k' car - even 5yrs ago, 1080 should have been a minimum.

But to answer your question and to confirm, 32GB and rock and roll. You can format/delete the disk once inserted directly from the PDR settings.

This is the SD card I have. I brought it to Spring Mountain last week so I'm going to keep it for future track events and use another one for day-to-day use and for extended cruises and dash cam use. It doesn't need any additional programming, just insert the card.

Also remember to stop recording when finished or the video won't be able to be read.

if you buy bigger than 32, you have to format the larger card with "fat 32 format" i think it is called, otherwise PDR will not read the card at all. I just used 32gb cards and keep it simple

I bought a 64GB card. It didn't come formatted as FAT32, and Windows won't format it as FAT32 either, but I already had "ultimate boot cd", which at the time was an ISO image that I downloaded and then burned to a cd-rom (these days, you can probably use a USB stick instead of a cd-rom to boot from). It include utilities to format USB and SD cards as FAT32.

Default 32 Gig is big

32 GB does over 6 hours. Most PDR video is pretty boring. I think one 32 GB would be more than enough. Get 2 if you want some flexibility. If you are tracking the car the tunnel gets very warm. At spring mountain they said it is a good idea to remove the sticker from the SD card.
There have been instances where the sticker gets hot and slides off in the reader and if it does you are F'd.
