If nearly stock save $500 and get a BMS filter.

It's interesting to read real world results. I don't personally buy into the BMS hype at all. You see it as only $100, I see it as a waste of $100.

I see the GM CAI as a waste of $500. The stock intake has been shown good until a bit over 600 RWHP. So until one is going to do some serious mods requiring a tune it makes no sense to me. The CAI are nice look at though. I’m content with my BMS and Mamo TB until I upgrade the blower. Then the Halltech is the way to go from my research.

Based on the Datalogs I have seen, the GM intake would be faster down the track than the BMS filter. But no one has actually documented this exact test so its just each of our opinions on the internet based on the knowledge we have. Either way, its such a small amount in the grand scheme of 650HP.

I just installed one with my only other performance mod being a borla x pipe. Butt dyno says it added some hp. Real dynos may say different. Haven't tuned it yet. Sound is no different than stock.

Bingo. I have a '19 M7 Z that dynode at 589 rear wheel on 93 octane with under 1000 miles on it. Only power mods were BMS filter and Mamo PTB - done mostly to eliminate annoying off idle hesitation. Did not dyno before these minor mods, but by my calculations, at a reasonable 12% drivetrain loss for manual trans cars, equals around 669 h/p. I am not paying $500 bucks for a piece of plastic with a plastic Jake window on it and test results not better than, and maybe worse than my $80 BMS filter.
Ran the car in 93 degree weather today with some 100 Octane in the tank, and car feels fast as S***.
Next mods will be weight reduction: (1) eliminating crap boat anchor wheels with lightweight forged wheels - unsprung rotational weight reductions worth 1.6 times sprung weight according to my friend of many years who teaches physics (that means throwing my two bent wheels into the dumpster) and (2) a full Evo Akra later this summer - another 30 lbs off.

Melting Slicks
The aFe has an 86 mm ID ring where it bolts up to the throttle body. If you plan to ever go with a larger throttle body then maybe not the best choice.

I have a AFE cold air on my 19 Z06. I like it. Noticed a difference after driving it.
noise didn’t change much though

I have no Dyno results as everyone seems to be on numbers these days. IMO any CAI/ Filter will all perform the same without supporting mods and a tune. With that said if you're looking for performance just stick with the factory GM setup and save your money. If you're looking for looks go with whatever catches your likes.

I posted it somewhere around here but here is what we saw prior to 2300 Maggie install.
Bone Stock 2016 A8 on Tune Time Performance's AWD Mustang Dyno. 505rwhp idr torque
Just adding the AFE and this was 15 20 minutes max after heatsoaking on the dyno while it was installed. It jumped 30rwhp
Then added of 32oz Race Gas to knock out a ton of KR the log showed and it jumped another 30rwhp.
The AFE is a huge gain even bone stock. Dont let anyone who hasn't observed and reported the above tell you otherwise.
My buddy mods a ton of C7 Z06s. From mild to pro charged. Those tests were performed on his own car. I was there.
Hope that helps add to someone's knowledge prior to spending any cash on mods. The biggest difference with this car is KR. It's programmed on the super cautious side for sensitivity for good reason (someone puts in **** gas or empty take etc etc). A tune or adding octane (20 bucks roughly per fill up) changes this car. Qhen this car doesnt pull power it's a beast. Especially when it goes into 5th. The AFE PLUS the octane stop it from falling on its face so to speak (this car still out accelerates anything at that speed within reason but its not the crazy 3rd 4th gear pull you've just experienced).
