Very interesting and good information to know. I got my Range AFM Disabler several weeks ago and really like it. I've left it plugged in, but have been keeping it on a tender because I haven't driven it too much the past few weeks. I've probably put 100+ miles on my car since installing it and I'm very impressed.
Only take off my Range device moments before my state's emission check so I've driven only a couple of miles before the check with no problem - so I don't know why the 200 mile comment was made.

Just adding a data point. I bought my first Range back in 2016, and on a fairly frequent basis it would start the car in limp mode. I bought a code reader to read the codes as well as clear any that still showed up. Sent it back for an update; same result. But by the last time I updated, in 2018 or so, they had it all figured out and I never had another code problem. I left it in all the time, and even while my car set for a week I had no noticeable battery drain. So I would just echo the early advice to buy directly from Range. I would be really surprised if you had any problem.
Bought mine directly from Range. Very nice folks and happy to answer any questions. I've had it in since I got it and it has done exactly what it's supposed to do. There is no "Down side". It receives the cylinder deactivation signal and returns a Command satisfied signal. I actually left mine in when I went to the dealership. Tech didn't say a word. It does not alter or tune the car. Totally safe and I like the fact that no matter what mode the car is in, cylinder deactivation is flat. No matter if I had the M7 or the A8, I'd have one.
