An X pipe is a good mod for those not wanting headers. AWE and Corsa make great X pipes for the C7's. Let me know if you want a price on parts or install as we are in DE.
Thanx greatly for this post. Very interesting results, for the money it looks like a Borla X pipe (which by itself logs slightly rich) with an intake (which should get a near perfect AF mixture) would get you well over 600 WHP for pocket change. The akra ti AB exhausts are very high quality (though as an AE I would prefer Inconel if I was spending a boat load of money on the metallurgy) and their design obviously works but is also quite pricey.
You will have to find someone with the 60547 Borla X wanting to sell, they don't make it anymore. Don't make a mistake and order the 60548 as it attaches to the factory cats. There are several other choices some will have the double x and all are 3" as far as I know. I believe the AWE has a single x like the Borla. This one is the least expensive but I know nothing about it; https://www.edgyvette.com/product/ed...ss-steel-xpipe
I'd say it's 15-20% louder with the cats removed, no drone. I would do it.
It's louder at cold start up, and at 50-100% throttle.
Everything else, seems "about the same". Warm idle etc, lightly accelerating through the gears.
The rev match, if you have a manual, with the xpipe is ADDICTING.
I mean addicting. It sounds better than my C6 that had long tubes with a full borla exhaust with no cats. It sounds better, and i think louder, than that.

Now you tell me!!! My 60548 just arrived and I wanted to get rid of the secondary cats. What to do now? Weld two sections to cover where the cats are?
Definitely. I have one with the BMS, Mamo TB and love the Borla Xpipe. Couldn’t justify the cost of an after market intake without a tune and more boost.

Oh, too bad you didn't know that, the 547 eliminated the secondary cats, easy bolt on. That' why it was discontinued by Borla, didn't want any DOT or EPA headaches.

You could have done that with the GM pipe, I'd return it even though it will cost you the freight, I doubt you could sell it and be better off.
Gutting the cats is an option, I have seen it done with the the car on a lift and the front of the pipe loose and hanging down and rear still attached to hold it in place. It it a big job and a huge mess, need a good mask, I would never do it.
