I have purchased one from "Range" and I have an additional question regarding the AFM Disabler. Is it Okay to install it and leave it or should one remove it when not operating the car? I have
heard that it should be removed (unplugged) when the car is garaged or parked for a period of time?
I do not know why that was recommended by this particular 2015 C7 Z06 owner unless he was thinking
that it might help to drain the car's battery.

All I can tell you is people are reporting that range fixed the battery drain issue with the newer ones.
I don’t know how to track which ones qualify, but I suspect a call to them with the serial ID number of your unit will help them advise you if yours qualifies as one with the update

I bought my Range a year ago and installed it in my new Z06 when the car had 5 miles on the odometer. Prior to buying mine from the Range factory, I spoke with one of the lead engineers and asked him that same "battery drain" question that I had also read about. He said the the original model had that issue, but they engineered it out of the more current versions, especially in the one you now (and last year) would buy from the factory. This is why there have been multiple comments made not to buy this thing from second hand suppliers like Amazon or Summitt Racing. Just buy "today's" model at Range and you will not have that issue to worry about.
WELL!!! Since the question that I put forth just above and the comments that followed I decided to telephone "Range" this morning myself. I spoke with a fellow in their Technical department that presented himself well, with knowledge and confidence in his demeanor so I feel that I got a good answer with a soundly reasonable explanation about this device and whether or not it might add to the cars battery-drain problem. In brief, after I explained to him about this conversation on the "Forum", he explained that there must be some misunderstanding out here in "Corvette Land" about the different devices made by "Range" telling me that they had redesigned some of the products they offered to reduce or eliminate battery-drain but that this particular device was NOT one of them. That because the particular port on the Corvette where one inserts the "AFM Disabler" is a "constant-voltage port" they cannot build the device so that there is not some battery-drain involved. He recommended that if I parked the car for longer than 2 days (three at most) it would be a good idea to remove the device from the port. He also said that the device should be inserted back into the port before starting the engine rather than after it was already running.

Interesting....but that’s not what they told me 18 months ago. I have a tendency to throw the battery tender on mine whenever I know I won’t be using it for a week or more, but I also have let It sit for 7 days and then driven it and it has always fired right up. Guess you’ll have to respect this guy’s comments, though.

I also called and talked with a rep who assured me that the new version (can't remember the software level) didn't drain. Since I have the Beast on battery tender all the time I'll never know if it does drain or not...
That was one of the things my tuner turned off when I did my first round of mods. Advice have a tuner simply remove it from the computer. Problem solved.

Callaway tunes the AFM out so the car will never go into V4 mode. If that doesn't hurt the car, I'm sure that something like the AFM disabler won't cause any damage.

I had a similar response in an E-mail correspondence with Range/Holley: I bought it directly from their Web Site to get the latest edition. Range Technology
My Question:One question I'd like to ask.
My Corvette sits mostly all week. However it stays on a battery tender and indicates a full charge.
Is it ok to leave the Range unit plugged in or will it be better to unplug it when not in use? All lights are out so I assume it's sleeping. Response:Your vehicle will be fine if you have it on a battery tender. If you didn't have a tender on it and were leaving it for weeks at a time we would recommend to remove it from the vehicle. Thanks.

It's been plugged in and is an awesome little device.
Have a Range on my 16 Tahoe. Love it, but it killed my battery when I was on a work trip and the truck was parked. Mailed Range my device for them to reflash with the latest update. Should have it back next week. Lesson learned, will stay unplugged if the car is going to sit.
In the vette, just use manual mode to avoid AFM
