Just did my initial oil change at 725 miles used 0-40 mobil 1 and a standard pf64 oil filter. Meet up with some vette people and one person sail the standard PF 64 is not good enough for the Zo6.
Said it should be the pf64(gold) or a mobil 1 113.
Also said a Zo6 should have a 2nd oil change at 1k miles, that I have never heard of.
Guys let me know please
I'd suggest you meet up with better informed people.
1. The reason for the 500 mile oil change is to eliminate any contamination from the initial sealer used to assemble parts of the engine. There is no need to change again at 1000 miles. Just follow the oil change prompt on the cockpit display
2. The current PF 64 filter is just fine. A c7 Z06 doesn' have either a lot of oil pressure and/or excessive flow rate. I just cut apart a recent PF64 filter after 5500 miles with a lot of high rpm running. It looked just fine.
The Wix is a very good filter but Napa has a Platinum oil filter cartridge which is probably the best oil filter of any. The quality of materials used internally is second to none.

Agree, NAPA has good filters as well.
I don't know if it is still the situation, but, at one time, NAPA and Wix were the same, just different labels.
Yeah, I've heard on several occasions that Wix produces the NAPA filters for them.
I recently viewed a thorough Youtube comparison comparing about 15 different oil filters from all different manufacturers. The difference between the NAPA Platinum and the Wix filter was significant. They said Wix was a good filter but looking at the quality of materials used internally the 2 filters seemed to be significantly different. K&N also had manufactured an outstanding oil filter that was tested as well. Those 2 were top rated in the comparison I viewed for vehicles using synthetic oil.

What about the the 22 psi by-pass valve setting.??
Was that mentioned?

It was not mentioned. The comparison I mentioned was not a comparison of Corvette filters. It was just a comparison of generic oil filters for many different manufacturers.. I will definitely be looking at K&N and MAPA Platinum filters from now on. Good thing you mentioned that 22psi valve. It's critical. GM said so. They said you can damage your engine if you use something with less pressure. They cited the PF-48 as an example. The PF-48 and the PF-64 are not the same filter. The bypass vale on the PF-48 operates at 15 psi pressure.

In the comparison, which was better between the NAPA and the Wix?

On the Wix website, they show the bypass to be 22 psi on their filter too.

The Wix was good but the NAPA Platinum was off the charts good. I'll see if I can track down the video and post it here. In the meantime, watch this video to see just how good NAPA filters are. The quality of materials is about as good as you will find in a filter
Thanks. I appreciate the info. I've mostly used NAPA filters through the years and have never had any issues at all, so it's good to hear again that they're still making a great product!
What am I missing here?
If I look at my oil pressure reading it is typically in the 40 psi range.
Everybody is saying the filter bypass is 15 psi.
Doesn't that mean the filter will be bypassing 100% of the time?
Am I misunderstanding something about this?
