Any recommendations? I was thinking about going with just the OEM version. I hear a lot of claims about horsepower increase with others, but the claims seem a little dubious.
I’ve had the Attack Blue Dry Nano filter for about 14 months now. It’s about $130 at a number of Corvette shops like West Coast Corvette. Our Z had way too much hesitation and lag in acceleration with the stock filter, often actually “stumbling” under light to moderate acceleration. All such lag and hesitation conditions stopped immediately after the Attack Blue was installed. Also, the car just pulls smoother in all gears whether accelerating hard or just playing a little in street traffic. High quality materials and design. Not making any claims about more HP. Never had it checked. I can only say that I would purchase another one in a heartbeat.

tests have shown the stock air box on the C7 Z06 is actually quite good in the stock engine without any serious modifications. The stock air filter filters fine, but several tests have shown the two stars in the C7 filter wars are the BMS and the Attack Blue filter. They both apparently give almost identical HP gains, the difference being the BMS is a use and throw away paper filter (about $90) and the Attack Blue is a washable fiber type substance so it can be cleaned and reused (about $130). I have the BMS and really like it. I'm just a everyday, nice day type driver (never to the mall or grocery store!) and don't take it on filthy type roads and never track it. At that rate, the BMS filter should last me 5 years (give or take), so the washable idea doesn't affect me too much. I would bet you'd be quite happy with either of these.
I have AFE Pro Dry S filters in all three of my current vehicles. Very well constructed and better filtration efficiency (99.2% for the dry filters,) than the paper filters that come stock. The OE filter in my C7 Z06 said Thailand on it, for reference. AFE filters are made in Corona, California. No need to oil the media filters, washable and reusable, and guaranteed to last the life of the vehicle.

I resolved my hesitation and lag issue by cleaning the throttle body. There was a lot of crud built up on the throttle blade and in the throat of the throttle body. A little of the appropriate solvent and a lint free cloth and the engine ran as good as new.

I use the Green Filter in my ZL1 1LE... I know it’s not a Z06, but it’s the same engine so it should respond the same. It works very well. No issues what so ever and it’s not expensive.
